For all of you who think you had a bad airgun day..
…I’m here to tell you that you did not if you compare your airgun day to my airgun day.
My buddy wants to look at a few of my air rifles because he wants to buy one soooooooooooooooo I figure I will get the drop tank 22xx ready for viewing. It was a top notch shooter 1/2″ groups at 50 yards all day long (stock Crosman barrel). What she needed was a barrel band to hold the forgrip and a new bolt probe. Easy enough right?????????
WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First I manage to strip the front trigger frame slot on the tube. As I do this the frame falls and out goes the safety ball and spring….nowhere to be found, don’t have a backup 😥
Then, I try tapping the hole while still under some pressure (I know, not the safest move, and had I not been pressed for time, I would have surely emptied it out first). The valve has a “muzzle mack” extended valve face on it and I remember Joe telling me that it is one of the older thick bodies and man it sure is thick as it weighs a ton…but what I did not realize is that the point where the trigger frame screw goes into the tube has a recess in the valve face to allow the screw to torque down 😳
Well, when I tell you I barely sunk that drill bit into that copper I’m telling the truth when BAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!! I get blasted in the face with air and no, I did not have my safety glasses on 😡
After flushing out my eyes for around ten minutes and getting 90% of the brass particles out I headed back to the work bench and decided to cut my losses and “borrow” the disco valve from that rifle and get working on a new pcp pistol. That valve face extension from “muzzle mack” wasn’t cheap…but rather than get angry, I decided to toss it into my 22xx “graveyard” pile and let me tell you, that graveyard has lots of “bodies” in it 😡
I’m just glad to still have my vision! Hopefully the last few pieces that are in there will work there way out by the morining.
