FPS on a 12 inch Airforce barrel in .177 cal
I bought a used Talon SS with a 22 cal barrel on it shoots very well and FPS speeds are very good with a 12 inch barrel, was wondering if you guys with a 12 inch barrel in .177 are getting for FPS if you have one let me know thanks Eddie.

This is .22 cal?
Them’s pretty heavy for .177… 😯
Yes on the global warming seems to be just another way of creating a job for some people there is no doubt in my mind people abuse earth and things need to change but I am sure we are in good hands LOL!!!!!!!!!! yea right have a good one 80 Eddie
Will do Eddie.
Yeah, someone forgot to tell Al Gore to send Old man Winter the memo on Global warming. Even here in Florida we woke up to ice sheets in the yard. I hope the crops are not destroyed. Prices will go up throughout the states.
Good night and post some pics when you have that “bull pup” together.
That’s what I thought 80 Grit! on a 12 inch barrel seems so short after tearing it down and giving it a good cleaning, I am more familiar with my Condor with a 24 inch barrel. I really do like the short barrel in this Talon SS it has some mods but mostly cosmetic walk butt, walk tirrger guard and a Hogue grip with walk adapter. So far I have only shot in indoors at 20yds and it is shooting very well one hole groups at 20 and you know I usually shoot 20 yds with pellets before I try any distance at all if they shoot well at 20 yds my experience is they will also do well at 50 and beyond from what I have tried. Waiting on a warm up here in Indiana so I can shoot some yardage with the SS I am looking for all the info I can find on a .177 barrel in 12 inch curious what it will do in this SS while still keeping it compact with the 12 inch barrel so if you see any info out there on a 177 in 12 inch let me know you have a good on Eddie
Thanks Eddie. Thats still some nice energy from a 12″ barrel. I’ve seen a few pcp pistols (14″ barrel) in the 16 to 18 fpe range) I might forgo building a pistol and start looking for a used ss. Well, I would have had the money but I went to the local gun show yesterday and found a Beeman R1 (near mint condition). I worked on the guy for over an hour on the price. I will post the story later after I get some pics as I will seek advice on these springers from the forum masters. Later
80 Grit, I haven’t Chrony my Talon ss yet I have a Condor but took this SS in trade it’s like new and stock What I posted as “Being Good” was what I posted on the Talon and Talon ss page, Nija and Walk had given me some numbers here is what they had to say but for now I really don’t know what mine is going to do top hat has been ajusted by the previous owner said it shoots as it stands now cph 14.3 pellets @ 800fps and JSB 15.9 @ 750 that is the reason I started asking about where I should be at with a stock Talon SS here is what they told me attached to this post Eddie
It’s very top hat dependent once the PW hits 100% preload…
Set correctly the TSS would break the SOS with your heaviest pellet your going to use at a 80% preload setting… At least that is how I would set mine up with just about any barrel… 😉
Have you taken your preload down or can you do so (without TH adjustment) to a more desirable fps of 950 to 1000?
My main concern was knowing if such desirable fps is possible with a 12 inch barrel. I see that in the less powerful “pistol” format, it is not that common (correct me if I’m wrong pistol authorities), but with the larger tank, valve, hammer, etc of the talon in “bull pup” form it can be expected!
With .177 Beeman Crow Magnims heavies 10.6 grains I can break the SOS…

Eddie, what is “very good”. I would like to build a 12″ talon in the future and I was just wondering. Thanks.
