Frame venting… best practices?
Yeah, I read the quick ref…. 😉
I vented the bushing fine and dandy, now my questions are these:
– how many holes are enough in the frame (between the two bushings), and how many are too much, in terms of maintaining frame integrity? For example, four big holes vs. eight little ones.
– are holes drilled at 90 degrees to the frame good enough… or has anyone drilled them at 30 or 45 degrees toward the muzzle? Seems like the angled hole might scoop more air and provide more venting, yes?
Any thoughts before I chuck up the drill press? Thankya.

I’ve got 4 small holes in min. I’ve done a completely unscientific audible check
as well and *believe* the rifle quieter with the hole unobstructed.
Now… Admittedly, NOTHING takes the place of a good quality moderator, imo.
Oh, and my holes were drilled directly below the fore grip and I don’t notice any
wind issues or pressure to face issues.
mine is vented under the hand grip (foregrip) and i taped it up and it is a tad louder but with tape off it is quieter though i think it helped but also my hand grip id a maple grip and i may be a lil diff design than stock condor
I drilled mine a couple of years ago, but the air coming out of the hand grip was hitting me in the face. Very irritating. I taped it up. It made more noise near my face than I wanted. I stuffed the scotch bright in the grip, and it helped a little. When I got the newer bbl. in, I vented the front bushing, but I keep the frame vents sealed. I like it much better this way.
I noticed no increase in noise when closing the frame vent holes. It actually seemed quieter. Especially since the holes are so close to you face.

No, but I think due to the length of the shroud the air has to travel a long distance before it gets to the hole that it come’s out at a relatively low pressure because it’s venting out the muzzle end of the shroud too and doesn’t really need it.
yellow, dose the AA’s have some type of medium stuffed inside?
Air Arm’s shrouds are vented to atmosphere (small hole next to the receiver) and are noticeably louder if you cover the hole with tape.
I have also heard that is isn’t really worth doing and it could make your setup louder. A good shroud is really all you need! Maybe a vented front bushing as well but I don’t think the vented frame will do much for you. Does anyone have feedback from their experience on this subject?
I wouldn’t do it, I believe it will make the set up louder with the air coming out of the frame, but yellow just may have a way around that with the scotch bright idea

I don’t know much of anything about it, but if you go to the talon tunes website you can see pictures of ones tony does. Usually he knows what he’s doing, so I’d just copy him. 😀
If I was going to do it, I’d put 1 single small hole just in front of the rear bushing in bottom of the frame and then I’d place some scotchbrite or other similar material over the hole that would be kept in place and hidden by the grip.
I don’t have any data that says that’s the best, or even a good way of doing it – it is just what I’d do.

I have tested both..While in some cases it may seem louder at the shooters ppoint of view ( depends on forearm and such ) One or two 1/16 diameter holes will drop the moise level a little… I have had my son shoot a couple of the ones I have done and at as little as 10 feet away I could tell a differance.. It is really hard to tell the noise level as a shooter
