Q:

Friend wants to sell me his equipment (if he can use them)

I have used these off and on for about ten years and now my buddy wants to sell them to me. He says are pretty good machines back when. He also has tons of tools I would get with them. I am hardly an expert on machining tools. One problem is moving them. The milling machine alone is nearly a ton. Both are in good working condition and parts are readily available. Both are full featured and automated. I have plenty of room in a walk-out basement to get them in and the space. The price will be very inexpensive other than the work of the move.

What do you think?

He has collected a lot over the years. It would be a package deal and he still wants to use the stuff occasionally at my house. He has made a lot of tools/holders as well. I know he doesn’t want to sell his metal inventory which is impressive. I don’t know how much steel, aluminum, and brass I have “borrowed” over the years. I am getting a lot of his stuff because his son is moving to the Phillipines with his wife. LOL

Yeah, if you’ve found that they suit your needs then by all means get them.

As noted before, tooling is pretty expensive.. especially those carbide toolholders and whatnot. (especially brand ones, dormer being really expensive.. phantom being pretty good value for money)

Get your friend some cash before he changes his mind. 🙂

If you’ve used these machines, then you know “what” they are. Coming with tooling makes it a really sweet deal as well. All too easy to spend a boat load of cash buying just the tooling.
