Q:

Friendliest Air Gun State?

Anyone knows what the friendliest state is as far as air rifle hunting goes?
In TX, for instance, you can’t even hunt a squirrel, unless it’s a ground squirrel, but you can freely kill hogs and coyotes with an air gun. Sometimes air gun laws don’t make sense.

Nice pistol!

I am waiting on a .20cal LW bull barrel chocked and breech for my 2240.
Should be very accuarte.

Did you add on to the barrel?

AirVenture!…..I havent been there in awhile but it is one of the little known airgun shops. He has been around for a long while. I had him fix my RWS6M and he did a good job. But I have heard he does not like to fix them anymore and it is probably due to the fact the new owners of RWS does not sell parts anymore and you have to send the gun to them to get fixed.

This is a nice little gun and mine was made in 1981. It is totally recoiless and fun to shoot.

Adam; Thanks for this info. I live in Cali and only know that silencers are not legal on airguns. Additionally, owning full auto BB guns is not recommended. True? AKULA

Full Auto is okay. One of the first full auto bb machineguns were made in Long Beach CA.
Airventure sells the tommy machine gun and drozd.
They are in Los Angeles County.
Here is a picture of airventure. You can see the Tommy gun on the wall.
This is not my picture. I took it from another forum.

We have a nasty form of black birds around here called Grackles. I don’t know if they’re protected or not, but they sure are fun to shoot and hard to kill if you don’t make a well placed shot. They’re damn smart to. After you shoot one, the rest will fly off whenever they see you holding a gun. I can walk out empty handed and they will just squawk at you, but as soon as I have a gun in my hand, they will take off quickly.

Crows protected?….. 124 or so day season here.

Here’s an old law from a town near me…..

quote :

that all masters of families and all young men that are at their own disposing, shall kill or cause to be killed one dozen of black-birds

Offcourse they dont mean crows.. but could be a case of mistaken identity 😈

Oh, my bad. 😀 I eradicated every squirrel within a 2 block radius around our business. They ruin the pecan tree crop if you let them.

A Williamson county wildlife person emailed this to me last year:

“Game animals (Gray/Cat squirrel and Red/Fox squirrel) may NOT be hunted with pellet guns and other air guns. Other species of squirrel (rock squirrel) may be hunted with pellet/air guns. There is no means restrictions on rabbits, Common Pigeons, English Sparrows or Crows. However, crows are protected and may only be killed if they are depredating or concentrated in numbers that create a health hazard. Here is a link to the regulations on protected birds. See Title 5, Chapter 64-Birds, Section 64.002-Protection of Nongame Birds.

Nuglor; There are many places that open season on game exists. I lived in Hawaii and goat and boar (pigs) were open season year round. Never mind the chickens.

In Calfornia the boar hunt is 365. You just need to be in an area that has what you’re hunting.

Texas laws are unknown to me but I know a bit about Texas. Check your laws, state and local. It’s Texas after all!

I bet you can blast with the best of ’em in your area or if you drive just a short ways. Your backyard may be a very real possibility for a hunting range. AKULA

Where did you hear that law? Around the Austin area, it’s open season on squirrels year round. Travis and Williamson counties. I’ve never seen anything that says what you can use to shoot them. I may just be ignorant, but I’ve shot more squirrels with a pellet gun that I can even count.

Thanks Adam..
Your pretty smart guy 😉

Silencers are illegal. But mind you airguns with shrouds are sold with no problem. As full auto bb guns I havent a clue. They do have full auto airsoft and paintball guns. I do know blow guns and black jacks are illegal 😆

In California we have some good airgun laws. We can hunt for various types of game including turkey in .20 and over.

We are one of the most progressive states when it comes to airrifle hunting.
