Looks dam good steve. How thick is the stock you start with?

I glued up 3 3/4″ pieces of poplar for my stock which gives me 2.25″. Also got my template cut out and sanded as that pic was drawn up on a piece of 1/4′ Maple plywood.

Found a nice Jig Saw for $15 with a laser and some other nice features my other doesn’t have. Its a generic brand, but so far i’m impressed with its action. No matter the name they are all made in china. My band saw is labeled Dura craft, but has the exact same actions on it as a JETT 🙄 $100 less to boot.

Should have the stock cutout later today. Will post pics as i can. I like the presentation of yours might have to try that myself. Keep it up. What you got planned for the future, any idea yet? I am use to working from drawings so like to do a scale drawing that way i always have some reference material if i want to go back and redo 1. Or make a change to a design, easier on a piece of paper then in the real world.

thought i better get the finger out and get some off this stock done today first chance i had for about 5 weeks so it,s nearly there not long to go and i,ll be staining it up .

well bodi mate i,n not have any troubls with the tanks as i,ve left it with enough space so the tank isn,t realy touching the wood i can turn it off but thats not to say every one could .so the remidy for this for me was i was going to put a adjustable but pad on it and this will help u take the tank off . 😀

Rabits i have considered doing something similar, obviously. The reason i did the black one th eway i did was for access to remove the tank. How much of a hassle is it to remove the tank when its fully covered from the bottom and you can’t get your hands around it?? Same goes for Bluejay’s stock. With my design i can get my hand in there and around the whole tank and twist off. Was wondering how you get the tank off of your design? If its not a problem it will definately move me in another direction in a full stock desing. I have one drawn up now and a blank ready to be cut, just decideing on how to leave access to the removal of tank.

well i,ve been working hard the last few weeks and i think i,ve lost the plot with all the hard shifts i,m doing .i only went and cut the bottom section off my stock off lol oh well i,ll just need to make it look even better now .

Il go for it but then i do like light weight guns, if you cut that piece off what are you gona use as the butt thou ! . Now get to work im waiting for stuff in the post !! ……..hehe

sorry mate post is cancelled lol . to be honest mate i,m going to do it anyway as for the but pad i,ll have it so u can use a adjustable one in the original hole that should work fine 😀

well lasd i,ve been working alot due to cribo comeing so haven,t had a chance to any work on the stock but tonight i,m sitting here looking at it and wondering if i would get away with a mod to the frame it,s self .tell me lads would this look good or not .right i,m thinking off cutting the section out that i have lined in white what do use think have i lost the plot or what

the thing about the scroll saw is the size off the wood i use it,s all about 3″ to 21/2″ thick and most off the scroll saw,s can ,t take that but the dearer one,s will but as always cash is a big part off it .i don,t mind it takeinf a bit off extra time and then going at it with the chisels to get it nice thats what i have been shown and know how to do but sometime,s time consumeing it is i would like to get it done with quicker

I can’t emphasize enaugh the usability of this tool.
Fein Multimaster

If I would now be in a situation to buy new house this would be the FIRST tool I would ever get. Check out the videos and applications from that page. It helps your life so incredibly that there just aren’t enaugh words to describe it 🙂 … just take my word for it. You will love it. Only bad thing is that all your neighbours and friends will borrow it all the time since there are just about zillion and then some applications to use it for.

Talking about that hole cutting you did with drilling. With multimaster it would’ve taken just few minutes without any risks of failing.

na mate na fun doing it that way lol..well a scoll saw on my list a wee while back but i got a band saw instead but i might get one soon … 😀

Hey Rabbits…wouldn’t it be a little less work to drill 1 hole and use a scroll saw, or even a coping saw for the cutout, instead of drilling a buttload of holes?

just a thought…
Your work is awesome by the way, I just thought it might be less work to use a saw 😀

quote get the blue jay:

how do you ruff you grips out? I’v been going at it with 80 grit and some pvc that’s taking forever, I’v been thinking that there’s got to be a better, faster, stronger way of doing it.

well mate there r many ways off doing it and u r doing it the best way .u can also use a dremil drill wil a drum sanding bit in it so far then finnish it the way u r doing it and u can also use a rounded rasp .the way i like to do it is the way u r doing it but some wood that doesn,t work for such as the cocbolo grips that wood is way to strong to do it like that and i use,d a dremil sanding bit for it .doing it by hand meen u r talkeing it easy and getting it right first tiem but dremil,s can get u into trouble if your not carefull .stick at it mate and get your self soem 40grit sand paper that stuff it like useing a tool for the job 😀
