Future of long range

It will help the non experienced shooter, come closer to a hit than without it. But It cannot replace experience. Not yet any way.

I don’t care for it, but I would love to play with it. I’m curious how much it takes to really shoot it accurately. Obviously it will be easier than a normal rifle and won’t take near the knowledge to shoot, but how easy is it? Can I give it to my little sister and have her making first round hits at 1000 yards immediately?

I mean, it is hard to shoot long range accurately. It’s not something that you can do right off the bat. And if you’ve never done it, and you’ve only shot close range (300 yards and under) then you probably won’t be able to shoot long range very well until you actually practice it. Wind and things are confusing, and they matter a lot more when you reach out.

Which leads me to my next point. It’s a computer. I’m sure most of us have used ballistic software. I use a very good one on my phone, it takes for account the weather (pulls from location to know weather where you are) elevation, bullet details, and most everything else. So it is good at predicting drop at longer range. But at 1000 yards, it was .7 mils off on elevation, which is a miss of about 2 feet. Same thing when I was shooting my .223 at 750. Dial in a shot, and a quick gust of wind throws it off at that range by feet easily. So this new fancy system, it uses basically ballistic software to calculate everything, so how accurate will it be? Especially when you move into the .338 lapua and are shooting a mile with it. And when it’s windy out and the wind is blowing differently downrange than it is where you are laying, can it calculate that? It’s a neat idea and I bet it is awesome at close and medium range, but I think it would fail if you really stretched it out.

I’d still like to play with it though. 😀

Exactly RIFF, while being cool and all, its simply not BLUE COLLAR friendly. They price it as though they are selling to the govt.

In MAY (fingers crossed), my full custom Allen Magnum should be able to do the very same thing but even further out. Just the old fashion way.

Lots of opinions about that setup. Some are just too funny.
