Q:

Fx Bobcat .25 vs Fx Royale 500

Hi guys.

I was watching some videos and reading about those rifles.

Are they the ¨same rifle¨? (just another bottle/cylinder, and trigger attach)

Because the Bobcat is too heavy and too long to be a bullpup so, if they are the same rifle i’ll prefer the royale 500.

Cheers!

I’ve got a Royale 500, .25 and it’s a long rifle. I’m not sure I’d recommend it to anyone under 5 foot eleven, if the plan is to hunt with it. That being said, the .25 Bobcat barrel is not that much smaller:
Royale 500, .25-47 in. overall w/ a 25.5 in barrel
Bobcat, .25-37 in. overall w/ a 24 in barrel.

If you are not hiking much with it, the Royale is a good gun when a high shot count is desired. I get an easy 80+ shots. If you get one, figure on getting one with a regulator.

The only thing the bobcat would have over the royale is the length.

Other than that the fx500 is a clear choice.

The weight of the bobcat is absurd

I could be talking out of my rear, but I’m pretty sure it’s the same action/barrel, put in a Bullpup config, so yea.. Pretty much the same. I’m actually a big fan of bullpups now, but between your two choices, I’d go with the fx500. If you’re not getting the main benefits a bullpup has to offer out of the bobcat (size, weight), then you’re far better off with the traditional rifle. That’s my opinion. I’ve always heard nothing but good things of the fx500. I’ve always wanted one as well, before I tried a *true bullpup and found how much better it suits me than a traditional.
