FX Smooth Twist
I just saw that FX is selling 24″ .22 or .25 cal smooth twist barrel blanks. Just curious if anyone has machined one and tried it in a Air Force gun. If so what kind of results?

Need to check the twist rate on PB barrel. They are a lot faster usually.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I am thinking of trying a couple of different things for .22. My PB smith uses Benchmark barrels and they made their original reputation in 22LR match benchrest barrels. They make a 2 groove that I am tempted to try. Just saw that the price of the ST was kind of tempting.
I love it when the slugs my Timmy casts are mentioned in the same sentence with the the best pellet! Oh, he just made honor roll too! Good kid…
I have one of the .25 ST barrels in my Condor. Ive only shot the jsb Kings and Jerrys slugs thru it so far. Both shoot very,very well 😀 I dont see ever going back to a rifled barrel again.

DaveG had some great results using the ring slugs out of a ST barrel. Super high power isn’t his “thing” but he can and did test in the high range and got great results. I was really hoping that would take off but not to be…
Now, Dave’s results might be as much a function of an excellent rifle build as the barrel. But, you can’t have a accurate gun without a decent barrel, right?
RC himself has had stellar results, but granted its in an FX gun…

I know what you mean Dyotat but the LW barrel I have is a 1-16 and The Benchmarks come in 1-16.5 or 1-17.5 with a taper choke in 2, 3, or 6 grooves. They are also hand lapped to the ten thousands range so they should be super smooth. I don’t know how well the 22LR barrel translates to shooting pellets but it might be interesting. They have a reputation for world class winning barrels for Suhl and Anshutz type actions.
BTW I have a Benchmark 6.5mm 26″ on a PB set up for F-Class and it will shoot sub 1/2 MOA out to 600yds all day long.
