Q:

Gage issue

Hey All
A while ago I decided to drag my AirForce stuff out of the safe for an inspection and cleaning. I always store with full tank, 3K psi. one never knows when that armadillo will show up. SO my Texan and Condor have gages which now indicate what would be around 4K psi if there were markings after the red zone. Both rifles in exactly the same condition. The Texan was still full up, the condor had leaked to 0. Depressing the valve could be done with one finger. I connected it to my tank and shot in just a little air. Gage no move. Air is heard to be leaking around gage area. Texan holds air. Called AirForce to ask about this condition. I was told they haven’t seen this. Said they were sending out two new gages. More than a week so far, nothing in the Bill Box yet. Anyone seen this issue?

Right, thanks.
I know there is a leak at the valve, it can be heard with just a bit of pressure. Most likely just an O ring. What I don’t understand is how the gage went past the red zone? It doesn’t follow that a leak would cause such an outcome. In any event, I will have replacements next week. I would like to understand how this could happen- I’m a mechanic in trade and can’t stand not understanding mechanical things, especially very simple things.

See above, chances are its leaking from one of the orings like mine was.

Put 1000 psi or so in it, and dunk under water, Verify where the leak is from.
Common issue, only 3-4 orings in there.

4K in a condor..not good if it is a stock tank…3K rated
