Gamo hunter Extreme
Has anyone had any experience with the Gamo hunter extreme in .177. Trying to find a pellet for this gun that will be heavy enough to bring it down to around 900 FPS and improve the accuracy. This gun belongs to a friend that fell for the 1650 FPS, BS and was of course using the PBA pellets, and as you may have guessed the grouping was just about as good as a sawed off at 400 yards. And he was only shooting at maybe 50 feet.

I have always had good luck with the Leapers scopes. For a hard recoiling gun like this, a BKL one piece mount works well. I have this same combination on a Patriot in .25, Kodiak in .22, RWS 54, and now this Gamo. No failures. The one time I did have an issue with a Leapers scope, I found their customer service to be fast and relatively painless.
In general, smaller scopes tend to do better than larger scopes on heavy recoiling springers due to lighter mass.
My brother had this springer , I do not know what scope he used , but he said that it is really loud and the X20 springer that I gave him
is not as loud and he would rather shoot the X20 so he gave his Gamo Hunter Extreme to the 12 yr. old kid next door . So now there is a
new and happy young shooter in this sport . :8: :8: :8:

Anyone know which scope can handle the beating that this rifle gives. The one that my friend had on it is falling apart, the glass is about to fall out of the eye piece, seems that this gun can give a serious case of whiplash to a scope.
Not sure of the new crop of Gamos, but I have an original Gamo Hunter 1250 (which were made in England) in .177. Got it for cheap and wanted it to round out my ‘beastly’ springer herd.
Found it to be typical Gamo… horrible trigger, teeth jarring spring buzz, and just a clinic on all the things people dont like on a springer. Still, I was able to manage some semblance of accuracy out of it.
I ended up putting a small 3-9×40 CP scope on it and ended up with this group using unsorted CPH’s.
My 10 shot open sight group at 30 yards wasnt near as good though…. and admittedly I am not a great shot with open sights.
Another group when I had a larger scope on it…. which I may switch back to. The damn thing is just so harsh, I dont want to bugger a scope.
That is going to be a hard one. Go to Pyramid air and find the heaviest in .177 and hope they work. :2cents:

I agree with rob; there’s a Leapers UTG 3-12 x 40 AO hunter on my RWS 48, which is a magnum springer .22. So far, the scope is working fine.
