thanks for the input.

i will prolly have it shipped usps then with insurance of 150 bucks to cover the cost incase something gets lost. shouldnt be more then 5 extra bucks but from what i read its worth the extra coverage.

thanks to all that replied, will get sent out tomorrow and hopefully i can have a new accuracy review ready by end of next week for the p12 and get real results from a working setup

Shipping over the years, here’s what I’ve concluded:

USPS: Great for shipping lighter weight items fast. As long as it’s less than 5-6 lbs it’s probably your best bet to use Priority Mail 2-3 day service. I’ve shipped small electronics up to fishing rods in less than 60″ packages and they offer the best rate/transit times. Shipping valuable stuff can get pricey with added insurance coverage. Their tracking system sucks though and god forbid they mislocate your package. Customer service is lacking if you have issues but since the service is typically 2-3 days and based on airmail, chances are your package will be delivered. Priority Mail by default includes $50 insurance.

FedEx Ground/Home Delivery: They provide better rates for heavier items say over 10 lbs but the transit time is much slower than the above option. If you ship it in person, they will screw you so you’re best off creating an account online and printing a pre-paid label. Tracking is much better and you can change deliver options online very easily if you can’t accept or sign for a package at home. Default $100 insurance included.

UPS Ground: They are similar to FedEx but a tad more expensive. They don’t deliver ground shipments on weekends (without an added fee) unlike FedEx Home Delivery. The best thing about them is, they are everywhere so you can drop off your package much more easily. Again, pre-paid shipping is highly encouraged and make sure you get a receipt for everything you drop off. Default $100 insurance included.

Regardless of which method you choose, if you’re the sender (paying the shipping cost) don’t be cheap and skip insuring your packages unless you’re willing eat the cost of your item. Sure it might be a $5 savings upfront but shipping a $200 item and only getting back 50% value bites. Also, declare a value otherwise they will not honor the insurance even if it’s below their default.

When I sent a tin of the jsb 18.1 gr-500ct to dman, shipping charge only costed me $9.75 through usps. The box was stuffed with a lot packing material.

Good craftsmanship, Jaime, thanks. :6: :8:

Box it up in the smallest box that u can while still maintaining safety of your scope.

Or look for a flat rate box.

$20?

Did you get that price from USPS.COM?

Usually it is around $10 to ship

All things equal I don’t think that UPS or Fedex are going to be cheaper than usps
