Q:

Getting an AF, where to start?…..

New member wanting advice on next air gun, finally getting AirForce, have a few specifics nailed own need a little help nailing down the rest. Been wanting one for several years holding out for a multishot version to be released, not patient enough to hold out any longer…
What I do know I want; .22”, 950-1000fps with JSB Exacts on high pwr, (or similar pellet), TTTA to retain as much scope C/L to barrel C/L as possible, and quiet, quieter the better. No more than $1000 delivered and will grow/evolve the gun from there over the months/years. (Already have tanks for filling PCP guns)
Which route I take is where I am hoping for some advice.
1) Purchase new CondorSS, TTTA assuming it fits the new style spin lock tanks, possibly a new top-hat or other performance/smoothness mod that keeps within the budget.
2) Purchase used or new Earlier style Condor and send it to Tony for the TTTA, 18” barrel with his custom LDC.
3) ?????
Gun will be used for informal plinking/target shooting, small game hunting, long and short range. Leaning heavily towards #1)

Background; Been shooting Airguns since around ’05, currently have an Air Arms S200-B in .22” with adjustable stock 10 round rotary magazine, CF LDC currently wearing Bushnell Legend 5×15 AO Mildot, R9 in .177″ that will be getting the Bushy Legend once I get new optics for the S200, R7 in .177″ wearing Swift Premier 4×12 AO, both Beemans tuned by RussBest. Had a Logun Gladiator in .22” for a short spell, custom LDC, Sightron sidewheeler. Loved the Gladiator for its quick power adjustment, rapid follow up shots and a bazillion shots prefill, (miss that gun). Also have a Crossman 1760 and 1077 and a GAMO Delta for the wee ones to plink with.
Currently my S200-B in .22” with 10 shot magazine and LDC fills the short range hunting duties PERFECTLY, Rat Safaris and starlings in the yard, its little shy on power for the Starlings out in the pasture, (75+ yards), kids love shooting spiders at 12 yards with it, by far the gun I shoot the most, LOVE the multi-shot and pertneer silent report, and of course its accuracy.

Thanks in advance,
Paul

Not yet. 🙁 I think Tony is a bit busy/overwhelmed with the new site etc as he has not replied to my last few requests of finalizing the order so will wait a while to give him a chance to get caught up and to make the order for my AF Condor SS possibly summer next year. 🙂
I have had the itch for an AF gun for years, in all my research of the AirForce guns Tonys version is what I am set on. I’m sure I can handle modyfing one myself, (own a shop specializing in customizing/machining high performance cylinder heads, can relate to being overwhelmed), I don’t really have the time to devote to giving it the attention-to-detail that Tony gives. For now the budget I had set aside for the TT AF I applied to a new AA S510 in .22″ for myself and a new M-rod in .22″ with fill adapter as a gift for my father, both should be here next week.

How did the order go did you get one?

Tony if you see this, you have a couple E-mails from me since the 23rd with questions, would like to finalize the quote for a custom condor SS in .22″ and get payment to you.

btw, new site looks great. 😀

Been in touch with Tony at TalonTunes, he sent me a quote for a wonderful starting point for an AirForce Air Gun. Sending my payment in the next 2 weeks, will report back then, very excited. 😀

quote WalkonKing:

A new Condor SS is a good place to start. A new gun comes with a warranty and the ones they are turning out are really nice these days.

Thank you, the new Condor SS does appear to be an incredible bang for the buck. Looking at all the currently available options from AF, dollar for dollar how does the Condor SS in 18″ stack up to the traditional Condor in 24″ after Tony has worked on making it quieter, or possibly the Talon 18″ and Tonys work to bring up the power level and drop the report? Budget is $1000 shipped, how do these or other options stack up to my needs below?
1) Quiet as possible.
2) Shoot .22″ JSB exacts or equiv between 950-1050 FPS on high, 550-650 FPS on lower settings.
3) Accept the TTTA
4) Ability to easily swap out prefilled stock tanks on long packing trips?

Over the winter, spring and summer it will evolve further, the list above is first priority.

Think its time to contact Tony directly to nail down my Condor and place the order.
