Q:

getting my gear togather , need gun

Got my new scope a Athlon 6×24-50 FFP , My bubble level is in,
My new scope rings are in,
My new LDC fat boy is in, and Mutant adapter.
Harris bipod and picatinny rails are in,
Now I need a new gun to install all the new stuff on,
so far the list is,
COMMENTS ARE WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1 Vulcan 25 Gen 4 all black
2 Mutant 25 standard
3 Mutant 25 shorty,
Seems like 90% of my shots are 50 yards and below, and the little shorty’s are so fun to shoot ,
I could just keep the two Crickets for the long range stuff,
Four PCPs well that shoots the rule of two PCP guns out the window.
A poor man in a rich mans sport, Just sucks.

So you’ll have to modify another Taipan stock then, if you get the .25 shorty?

I have the same scope in mil/mil. Like it thus far.

Bizill
You got me thinking
Well I have two Crickets 22 and a 25 dressed the same, Same Viper scope same trigger, True twins,
Now the Mutants will be different, I got a Hawkie on the 22 and on the soon to be 25 The knot heads on this form talked me into trying the
Athlon Btr FFP 6-25X50 scope, So its going to be set up a little different than my 22 Mutant.
IMO The side foreword cocking gun is not for everyone, I have never tried one, I do not want to try one , I may like it to much and I have four rear cocking guns problem, :winkn:
I could not sale the Mutant 22 anyway, I bought a second hand stock for it, Its been chopped on whittled on and painted,
It makes the OEM Mutant stock look like a thing of beauty, BUT it fits my hand and form like a glove, and that’s all I care about.
Oh, I am and have been looking at the Vulcan and the Priest real Hard,
I got about 18 days before I tap the pay pal account
Mike

I say if you get the .25 Taipan Veteran Shorty then you might want to sell the .22 Mutant Shorty. Agreed that if you already love your .22 Shorty, why get a .25 in the same vs something entirely different. Don’t get me wrong, if money were no object, I’d love to have every model of every AG made. I’d want to go with something different. Perhaps the Leshiy. If Edgun ever came out with the Lelya 2, I’d want that.

I was originally wanting that Priest, and although I would have been happy with it, I’m elated with the Taipan Veteran Standard. ….that trigger…I love it and would have had to learn to “deal” with the Priest’s. What I do wish I had that the Vulcan, Priest and most FX’s is that forward-mounted side-cocking lever!

You must be a young man to lay on the ground like that, 😛 And is that a Carbon fiber bottle on your gun?
I have always said I like the looks of your gun, The Gun just looks cool . BUT,
I would like to own a bottle gun someday, You Priest guys seemed to went silent for a while .
But the Mutant seems to just be calling me. Its the gun I reach for 90% of the time,
I have to rotate my guns just to keep from shooting the Mutant all the time.
If the Mutant shorty .25 is the gun I think it is , I may be selling a Cricket, But that’s like saying which finger to I sell, They are all usefull
Mike

Lol. Yes I am 29 and quite fit. My bottle is still the stock bottle but the reg on that bottle is a revised version from RTI that gets rid of that sound associated with the initial batch. The other bottle was given to me by a coworker so I found a way to make it work as an extra field tank. I too wonder where the hell all of the other Priest guys went. It would be nice to see anyone else out ther eager to share their experiences. I know right now you can only get a .177 from RL cause the rest are in owner’s hands.

I am curious though as to what the .25 shorty will get you over the .22 shorty. Especially, considering you have a cricket as well in both calibers. Whats got my eye right now is a suitable rifle for those times where a rifle will be greater than a bullpup. I am very seriously considering selling a dirt bike to get an Evol Tactical or HM1000X in .25 for heavies at 900fps. Already got the bullpup, need a rifle other than my AT-44. Whatever you do, share it with us. I enjoy seeing what everyone else is doing with different kinds of gear.

I am going to be that guy and recommend something not on your list. The Priest in .25 is doing very well for me. I took her out this past friday in 14mph wind and was still able to hold 3 inch groups at 100 yards. Best I have gotten so far is 2″ but I can’t really run my scope higher than 10X because the athelon talos glass leaves a bit to be desired. Looks like a mirage if at full zoom.

Anyways I have nicknamed the gun the Honey Badger because it just doesn’t give a shit. Polymags in the magazine, check. 300bar fill and still consistant chrony strings, check. Pulled the reg down to 1900psi and still getting 908FPS average for about 65 shots, check. Can accept air from a rigged up a 68 cu in paintball tank by punching out the high pressure sealing ball in the bottom of the piston for more air in the field with out fear of overfilling, check. I can go on but the point is this gun can take whatever you throw at it and it will perform. At 27″ in length it is on par with the vulcan in length and also in weight but you get many more shots. The fatboy can screw right onto it if you have donny make you a rear cap with M14x1 thread which he should have that tap now that he made one for me. Overall I am happy as I can be with my purchase. Plus it is anywhere from $100-$400 cheaper.

Below is a picture of my outing on Friday. I shot nearly a whole tin of pellets before I stopped, More than 200 pellets. If you can zoom in on the picture you’ll see a beer bottle on the top of the crate I was shooting at. Even in heavy winds I could hit the bottle neck pretty consistently.

Yea, I was leaning towards the shorty,
Looks like I will be calling Tony Monday and putting my order in.
Mike

I agree with my form brothers on this one.

Get the 25 shorty. You all ready said that, you like shooting the 22 shorty.
All that’s going on in the Ukraine over there, the Taipans could dry up at any time.

Get a 25. shorty while you can. :biggrinn:
Really there is no other bullpup, that is so short in 25.
Maybe a few used Lelya’s.

Greg they do have the LW barrels. :biggrinn:

ride , I agree with GKU . You already have at least 2 PCPS’ that will shoot beyond 50 yards . Your primary use for
a new gun is for shooting only out to 50 yards only . I would go for the best caliber option for this shooting agenda .
Since you seem not to want anything over a .25 caliber gun then I would say that the .25 Mutant Shorty would be
your best choice . :2cents:

FROM : THE BIRDMAN

For a poor man u’re doing good Mike, couple more guns and u’d be in the rich !

It’s a disease, well well.

I’d go with the Mutant 25 cal Shorty … but I’m bias for a good reason, my Shorty 22 rocks ass or rock asses !

Wondering if it’ll come with a LW barrel being a 25 cal ?
