Getting ready for the shoebox
First I got the compressor from HarborFreight, now I just bought a 68 ci tank 4500 fill ,with gauge, fill hoses and 3000 bleed valve off the yellow. 😆
Now I am ready for the shoebox.
And a trip to the poor house 😆 .

I found it in ebay under air supply.
It has two years left on the hydro.
He has some 88 cuft I believe, I think he buys up all the older firefighter rigs in the LA area.
From what I have read, noone knows how long they wil last, it is just a abitrary time limit the FEDs put on them, like I say in Europe they let them go 30 years. But if your filling your own, you break no laws or rules.
Evidently they blow them up when the manufacture them to test them, they just split open like a grape, but a real duzy of a grape I imagine.
I am getting stoked over this shoebox thing.

Not saying they can’t be. Just said it’s wise to make sure it can still handle the load. Like the steel tanks. As long as they pass hydro they are still good to go(DOT rules wise). Shoot they have 30yr CF tanks now. I can only find them new but 88cf for like $800.
Just unpacked the Pygmee tank and hose.
I am Jonesing for that Shoebox now.

Those tanks are used for 30 years in Europe, there is not a instance of a tank failing with the exception of one exposed to corrosive chemicals.

I would still hydro RC! Filling it your self or not fucker can still blow!
Well I just got off Ebay/paypal, I ordered an older scba 4500 psi 45 minute tank. I figure since I am filling it myself, the Hydro in future years does not matter.
I got it for 110 shipped to my door, it has air in it now, but will be drained for shipping of course.
So now I am all set up with the exception of a hose from shop compressor and a moisture trap, I will get that in the next few weeks for Harbor Freight.
So come Christmas, according to Tom at the shoebox forum, I will be getting the Shoebox and will put the above pictured scuba set up for sale. Actually probably sell the tanks back to the scuba shop and sell the cascade system, so if anyone wants a scuba cascade system, drop me a pmg.
Jerry, yes the pygmee tank will be very handy, especially with the little 2240 carbine I have, I got all the scba hoses and bleeders in that deal.
All this makes more sense than to buy the pressure cutoff device for the scuba tanks.
My wife is a little confused about all this, she thought I already manufactured a lot of gas. 😉
I of course told her flammable gas is dangerous in PCP’s, so boiler makers do not count. 😆

I’ve got one of those pygmy tanks and I’m glad I do! Timmy can shoot his Disco all day using just the pigmy tank and it can recharge a big bore in the field too. See if AH still has the belt for it, works great…
Ha Ha Ha,
Looks like perhaps Condor was correct, I am an idiot, or at least ignorant and learning quickly, I just realized my new tank is 68 CI not CF.
Do I have any application with this tank? I cant use it to fill anything except my PCP 2240.
Embarassed in Oregon 😳

Post script: Just got off the phone with Airhog, it is one of their discontinued Pygmy tanks. He said I could fill the AirForce tank from 2000 to 3000 PSi twice in the field. and the Shoebox was ideal to fill it, I guess it is really what I had planned on buying for next years depredation season.
So I stu;mbled onto what I wanted, key word stumbled.
I think I can get the water or moisture trap at Harbor Freight.
If I went from the shoebox to the scuba at 3000PSI, I would have to get the pressure limiting valve, that with frieght would have been around 175, so to go to 4500 straight for 300.00 was a bargain. And I got all the hoses and gauges.
He has already shipped it, Student1946 will be getting a very good BOI rating from me.
The day started kind of disappointing but has improved quickly. 😆

ya Voltar fills is 4500 SCBA tank with the shoebox! Something about needing a water trap though.
Crow,
I have sure thought about that, it just gives me more reserve on hunting trips, but with the shoebox to fill up the scba….?
I will just have to see how it all plays out, this does sort of put my Leupold and 25 barrel on the back burner for another month.
It is all about bucks, if I had Woks money it would be no problem tho. 😆
Roachcreek
roach fill up the cascade system and you will have air on hand at all times
Wok,
Yeah, now I need to figure out what to do with my scuba tanks and my cascade system.

I only paid 300 for the scba tank, gauge, fill whip with a 3000PSI bleeder on it, it seemed like a good deal, seller pays shipping, but seller is just north of me in Washington so he is not out that much.
It is my understanding, I just attach my compressor to the shoebox and then attach the female quick connect on the scba to the shoebox. I will need to also get a moisture trap, remember people fall off their bicycles and drown around here. 😉
Roachcreek
I want to get me one of those as well. 😀

Just the laws of Murphy lol =) I will have to search ebay. What is it like an 1hr tank is 88cf? Yeah there are some vids on youtube that show them being blown up. Not the JAWs excitement but no joke non the less.
