Q:

gladi8tor power selector mods

I once read a post about guys taking the power selector off the FX G8 and drilling out the “high power” setting slightly to get more FPS. Has anyone read that post or have any info about such a mod ?

I hear ya. It is a great rifle and I shouldn’t mess with it. I just can’t leave good enough alone. Iam guilty of this with all of my rifles. I have had some mods work out great and some that gave negative return. I learned from all of them. I just sent my Anschutz off to get a custom McMillan stock, she’ll be gone for months ! My friends think Iam crazy. They say ” The stock on that rifle was sweet” I say “yeah, your right, but it’s not a McMillan”
Thanks, I have not decided if I should go for it with my sweet FX G8or, but it’s a long winter here in CO. and I may get bored and want to experiment.

Yes , I understand what your saying. I have the US version and get about 35 fpe with kodiaks. I was just asking because I saw a post on some forum with a picture of the selector wheel removed and the poster was opening the hole up for more power. I don’t remember where I saw the post.

Silly question, I know, but if you’re already getting 35 fpe, doesn’t this qualify as a “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” situation :-)? I have a Cyclone .177, it does 20+ fpe on high with CPH’s, it’s so accurate and consistent I’d be afraid to change ANYTHING for fear of pissing it off. Besides, I suspect any increase you might get that way to be minuscule, maybe 1 or 2 fpe, if anything. If you’re just after raw power, I’d be looking at another rifle, a Condor or one of the Korean heavy hitters. JMO, later.

Thanks guys, I will keep looking around. I should have saved that post. Iam thinking of trying this mod., but first I want to order a factory replacement part so if I wreck one I’ll have another.

I thought I remembered it being Baz… but I did a search and couldnt find anything.

It was that Bazle and his verminator.

I remember seeing a post about a replacement disk that someone had made.

I think it was a UK Spec that now made FAC power because the holes were enlarged.

I have the Logun Domin8tor and the power adjuster is just a round, indexable steel plate with three different size holes (six holes actually, I’ll explain). I would imagine that you could open up the larger hole a little bit more to get some more power but I believe the hole is as large as the air port below it (no constriction of air). You can only use three holes at a time; high, medium and low power BUT if you were to take the plate out and turn it upside down and reinstall, you will have three different (and much smaller) holes. I believe these smaller holes are for countries that limit power to 12 FPE, so you would have only 12 FPE max on high power. The opposite may be true for your gun, perhaps you have the three smaller holes in operation on your gun. If your guns output is 30 FPE on high, you’re using the unrestricted side. I hope this makes sense.
