I’ve got over 80k shots on my Edgun 22 long and over 35k though the 25 long.
Both original prongs and valves. Regular Maintanance and exceptional MOA accuracy make for much loved air rifles.

I have an Edgun R3M 25 and my dad has a Cricket 25. Both are equally accurate, but I think the quality and design of the Edgun is slightly better. For the sale price of $1500 currently, it is an easy decision to get the Edgun.

I like both matadors and crickets….

If I had to go short/compact I would choose cricket, for standard or long I don’t have a preference, they are both equally capable IMHO.

Let’s say between two perfectly equally priced, 100% working guns and customer service for me the deciding factor would be the trigger.

The trigger is the link between the shooter and the tool and makes the difference (at least for me).

will order edgun how do i get in touch with John I will need aftermarket LDCs. shroud cover My email is bobbyefarr@charter.net or he can call me at
864-426-0169 O how about valve stem are they plastic or metal ,can i get a metal one if they are plastic . Thanks for the help

The fact that you posted this question in the “edgun” category tells me that deep down you have already decided..
The R3M STDs are on sale for $1500 for a few more days so I’d be grabbing one quick and making the most of that deal!

I have 2 Edguns, one .22 and one .25, both in standard size. I have a .25 Cricket synthetic. The Edgun is finished nicer, it has better ergonomics, it is more compact and lighter. The magazine is simple and the single shot/ magazine off switch is simpler than the Cricket. The Edgun is easier to load the magazine into the breech as well. The rail on the Edgun has 30 MOA built into the rail. In terms of accuracy I find that both guns are super capable and there are days where one will out shoot the other. There is not a clear winner in terms of accuracy. The Edgun .25 will only hold three magazines and the Cricket holds 4. The .25 Cricket magazine capacity is 12 and the Edgun magazine is 9. The Cricket shot count is around 70 and the Edgun is about 50. In all fairness the Cricket is equal to an Edgun long. The Edgun is louder than the Cricket but only slightly. The loudness can be dealt with aftermarket LDCs. John’s aftermarket shroud cover with 1/2 UNF is a real nice addition that works very well. He is a master at his craft and his shroud is a must if you need a more quiet Edgun. Donny makes a good aftermarket shroud for the Cricket. Don’t buy the Clague for the Cricket, it is not any better than the factory shroud. Neil’s LDC does work well however. The .25 is not a real quiet gun. If you have a super nosey neighbor get a smaller caliber. If I had to sell one I would keep the Edgun. There is an intangible with the Edgun. Im not sure if it’s the feel or ergonomics or the fit an finish but I just like it better. The Edgun wins in the super-cool category.

They do have plactic and it is very efficient too !! they are way more efficient on air use than other guns. there is an aftermarket offering of metal as well but the plastic lasts 1000’s of shots in most cases on .25’s and 10’s of 1000’s on .22 and smaller. They have always been available if needed.

How about sound and getting parts do edguns still have the plastic regulator valve if so can you get the metal one , How much and were Thanks

I have a long 25 ed and it shoots well, prefer the long ed over the 25 Cricket I have. Both guns do a fine job at pest removal. Pest removal is the most important part of having either gun in my opinion. If I was to sell one, I would sell cricket before selling the ed. You cannot go wrong which ever way you decide. If Tony still has a sale going on, it would be an easy decision which way I would go. As for parts, buy a set of orings and your set!!!

Edgun std. is nicer build quality in general and much !! nicer handling and balanced gun. Wood is more nicely finished with a smooth hand rub’d look instead of a bit of shiny clear. Both guns will shoot very tight groups. Now with that being said if you want to buy a Cricket 25 I have a very lightly and carefully used perfect condition one for sale !! I just like short compact guns and sold my 25 long Ed also and going to replace it with a Std. Ed when the cricket leaves.

Really though, they are both great shooting guns and the cricket has a smoother cycling action but the magazines are a bit of a two handed, acquired skill to swap w/o dropping a mag. on the ground.

Nice thing about opinions is every can have one and everybody can disagree.
