Q:

Good bipod?

I want to get a bipod for my talon ss with a 24inch barrel. What bipods are you guys using? Airforce? or other brand with an adapter? Thanks.

Rifraff; I don’t agree. I use a Harris that doesn’t swivel, for both target and hunting. I do this due to the fact that the Harris is SOLID and doesn’t move. This improves my groupings and my success in the field.

You’re right though, a swivel mount will give you more opportunities to aquire a target. Thankfully, the varmits I’m shooting at don’t shoot back!

It’s all personal peference though. If a swivel base works for you that just make you a better marksman. I’m just too shakey for a swivel mount. AKULA

I use 2 different Harris bipods, depending on what type of shooting I am doing. For bench work, I use the shorter one in pics in previous posts. For feild work, I use a longer one that I can use while sitting.

I have to agree with WOK though, I need a swiveling mount. You almost never have time to adjust the legs in the feild to correct cant. A swivel lets you adjust cant pretty easily.

So…
Do I need to build an adapter like the above, or just hook an AF swivel stud and attache a Harris (or Rock Mountain) bipod?

OK. I’ve got the photo thing worked out. So here is the mount pics.

Not pretty I know but it works.

That is what I did the first time. So I don’t know what happened. I have also tried to do it on a few posts that I haven’t submitted.
Sorry that this turned out to be a tutoring lesson. 😳

just click in the area on photobucket labeled “Image code” , then paste it into your message. (It automatically copies the image code to the clipboard)

It appears that I suck at the photo thing. Any quick tips on getting a actual picture on my post??

Thanks guys, With the harris bipod did you use the airforce swivel stud? Or does a certain model fit on the 11mm rail?

What YN did is mount a QD stud, not the wood screw kind, the kind you drill all the way through and mount a nut on the other side kind. He mounted it on the forearm and it looks sharp.

I am sure there is a pict on here somewhere 😀

well….YN….pic please 😀

Silent; The only bipod with a dovetail mount that I’ve found (and I looked hard) is the Airforce model. eBay has retailers that will sell you a dovetail to Weaver mount so that’s another way to go. AKULA

Well I am new and haven’t done the pics thing yet. 🙁 But I will try to post some as soon as I get the hole thing figured out.
But the mount thing was simple. Gust took some old dovetail mounts and did some cutting, some drilling, tapping, and painting. Never did like the weaver rings any way.
