Q:

got a bsa 18in barrel……but your gonna laugh…….

😀 anyways, got an unused Leupy barrel today off a good guy complete with end cone for half the new price, so as u can imagine, im very pleased….only trouble is the diameter of the barrel is considerably thicker so my hammer (leupy composite) wont fit, so do i drill it out on my pillar drill and run the risk of spoiling it or (and this is where u may or may not laugh) im an expert woodworker so do i turn one out of wood….. your thoughts please chaps 😆 😆

fun to shoot 100 yards / or meters.
but every time a long walk, lucky I have a nice pleace where I can drive to the target.

Hey,

team universe, what is your location?

about the coffee, we like it STRONG, my mate Karel, tell always when a horse shoe floats it’s strong enough. 😛
Last year I was in Nevada for a training, and we use 2 times more coffee to make a good mix.

Did try some LW blanks, did see a lot of good ones, maybe the blanks are second choice, There are good barrels from LW, but the are fit in Air Arms and Theobens.

I like BSA barrels, they are a bit tight, with a very tight choke but they shoot nice, here a 100 yards target from me,
( yes I’m a lousy shot, one supid flyer. )

45 ft/lbs jsb .25

BSA barrells are very good and a guy with a lathe could make one fit an AF gun. The question is are they better than LW barrells?

Do these barrels fit a Talon with minor mods? Are they really that much better? Sorry to jump in your thread but, looked like a good place to ask. Thanks

Id take u up on the offer Ewoodie just for the coffee……….the UK seems to be the only place in Europe where u cant buy a decent coffee, mind u, the UK is the only place on the planet where u can get a decent cup of tea! so guys, all round to my place for a cup of tea (and someone please bring a lathe) 😆

Apologies to Tezzla, I will post some pics of the ldc, just so much to do at the mo, also, do i need photobucket to upload from? or can i just do it from a file in my computer?

Oldgoat, join the queue dude, everyone wants one of these babies, me included, been looking for one of these at a bargain price for months now….I just got lucky I guess 😀

to team universe

If the barrel is reddy to drop in ( if it allready get the bushings ),
it’s no big deal, every machineshop can cut it down a few milimeters, of the barrel diameter, in less the 10 minutes.

Or come to my place, I do it for free, and you get also a cup of coffee.

( I don’t pay you travel ) 😛

If it is an untouched 24″ long .25 cal BSA barrel, I will give you at least $100 more than what you paid for it and will pay shipping.

BSA barels are really hard to get!

PM me if you don’t want to go thru the hassle of fitting it to your AirForce.

ummm doing my best bevis and butthead …’he said WOOD’…hell why not make a barrel too 😀 …hey BTW did ya get auy pics of your homemade ‘LDC’ as we west side people say..the S word is bad here :P…tezzfla

that is the issue Ewoodie, that part of the barrel (for some reason) has not been taken down to the neccessary diameter, this is how it comes to be an unused barrel, all the other machining is done, just not the hammer slide section……….now your going to laugh even more, i said its an 18incher, well, i looked at it today while comparing it to my 12incher and thought it looked twice the length…..and it is! its actually 24inches which is a suprise as it was sold as 18 😮

You can rework the barrel, make the first part a bit smaller.

hold the phone…..i just remembered that in the next village there is a guy who builds top class choppers , a few years ago he re welded my broken mountain bike frame for next to nothing, so im sure he can turn down the hammer section of the barrel……besides, last time i was there i had an interesting time looking at his choppers in various stages of completion, so its a good excuse to call by again 😀

Take some measurements and post them of the hammer ID and the barrel OD.

its half brass and half delrin so drilling it out is doable……….when i say wood, i dont mean something like pine…..im thinking lignum vitae which is very dense and heavy or even ebony…..still a daft idea i know, but hey, my homespun silencer made from plastic pipe, rubber doorstops, hair curlers and felt works a treat 😆

Well if you think the wood is up to the job, needs to be stock weight, maybe a little heavier. It will take some punishment though. I would go with drilling out the hammer you already have 🙂

*sniggers* No, wood won’t be heavy enough. You need to ask Leupy to make you a new hammer. 😀 If the hammer you have has a nylon inner, then drilling it will just mush it up.
