Lol no no drilling at all the mod I did see I liked was conversion to 177 but not yet still getting to know my baby

And yes remember do not drill the air chamber , Make sure its the shroud, Drilling the air chamber will not make the gun any quitter
It will just need more air,

Greetings Strange Lifeform

Enjoy your new gun…but remember, never try to suck out a pellet jammed in the barrel…especially if the gun is cocked!!!

Mike, I think that little Shorty has some serious power upgrade potential, with a little adjustment and minor modification!

Further…I’m thinking about doubling the holes in my shroud. I don’t suggest anyone else try that until I can determine whether it provides any more air pressure relief prior to the baffles. Simple physics tells us the less air pressure pushed through the baffles the less sound should result! The key is using the right number of small holes to prevent any discharge noise from being emitted from these tiny relief holes.

We did this a few years ago with the early Edguns and obtained measurable results. It’s not a simple thing, because the more holes you drill there appears to be a diminishing return with results! So adding more holes is not always necessarily better.

Venting is not a universal solution to muzzle blast, but it has proven to increase the effectIveness of the LDC, thus lowering the sound. And…if the shroud/LDC is quiet to begin with, it’s possible to have no need for an additional LDC. Unless you need complete silence, then the LDC is needed. At least that’s been my experience.

keep up the post on that 13.5 barrel, No one has them in stock s its just to new of a part for the Mutant, May take a while.
Got to get my drill press set up to drill the Hoot holes in the shroud, Seems like an easy and fast and cheap thing to do,
Seems to be getting dark a little faster on my part of the world , Have to adjust my shooting times.

I second that comment, my trigger is well under a lb. What is best way to clean barrel , do u have to remove shroud etc?

I haven’t shot mine enough to clean the barrel yet. I’d think pulling the barrel with the shroud on it would be the way to go.

Removing the barrel is a really simple task with the Mutant…loosen the top four bolts on the picatinny barrel mounts, loosen the screw on the top of the breech that secures the barrel, and simply pull the barrel out! The LDC easily screws off.

This gun is probably the most user friendly design I’ve ever seen.

The new Shorty V2 barrel length is of interest to me. It’s said to be 13.5″ or so in length. There’s something to be said for adding a couple of inches to the barrel. Even with a longer barrel it’s still an extremely short bull pup. The 11″ OEM barrel performs exceptionally, but physically limits the gun to pistol performance levels. Nothing wrong with that…nothing at all! If you get 800+ FPS with 18gr pellets you can still take out any critter you can shoot with that caliber. Our British friends do well with their 12 fpe limit, the Shorty doubles that performance, so what’s to complain about?

However, I’ve swapped out a couple of Talons 12″ barrels for a 14″ barrel and used them to shoot slugs with. It was a deadly combination…so anyone wanting to max out performance in a Shorty would do well considering modification of a Mutant Standard barrel to 14″ and using the factory shroud/LDC. For the power hungry the added length would be insignificant.

Just a few thoughts for consideration.

One of the first thing that I’ve gotten in a habit of doing. Put the safety on. Both my mutants have light triggers.
