Q:

Got my talonss and need some advice

I just got my talonss in 177. Really like it. I got an air venturi 4500psi tank at close to 90ci
I got the tank filled at a paintball shop and noticed they only filled it to 4000psi. I got home and filled the gun up and noticed it stopped at 2500psi on the tank. Went to sight it in and noticed after 20 shots it was close to 2000psi. Filled it up to 2400psi which it wouldn’t go anymore. The power wheel is on 8. I will go and get the venturi tank filled again tomorrow at another place. Any thoughts why I can’t get the gun to 2900psi and have to top off after a few shots.

Oh and by doing what the manufacture told me to do I had jsb heavy going at a 2700psi tank power wheel 8 20 shot string 1st shot 900fps 20th shot 848fps. Not perfect and needs more tuning but it was a starting point.

Hey thanks for the advice. Maybe no advice is better than bad advice but as i stated I was new and going by the manufacture’s suggestion. I hope next time rather than writing a long winded post aka bitching you take the time and help someone else. I dont have a micrometer or anything to measure the top hat so I had to go by what airforce said. I have never posted I knew what i doing, just a suggestion in case the op didnt get any other answer. Sorry almighty veteran of the air gun world. I will just have the next guy asking a question pm you for a faster response thats correct.

If you have the top hat adjust out to the point the breach is tight, (as you suggested in another thread), it’s no damed wonder you are getting a bad shot count. That is NOT tuning a AF gun, but rather throwing out any tune what so ever. . Period! 🙄 And putting a lot of stress on the valve stem. Put it bqack to .070″ or less and leave it the hell alone until you are here long enough to learn what the hell you are doing.

And please stop giving advice to other owners until you know at least a little bit about what the fuck you are doing! 🙄

A lot of us here have been at this for a LONG time. When we give advice, it’s because we’ve been there, done that. Not just we heard so and so, so this is what you need to do.

When your a newbi, its adviseable to have both ears open, and learn a bit before trying to teach what you don’t know.

I messed with the top hat and it seems to have helped. It shoots more consistent now. Needs a little more tweaking. I need to talk to pyramyd air and get the air venturi figured out. I probably should have just went co2 route. I am only getting about 20 shots from 2500 psi to 2000. Guess I have more tinkering. Why cant things work for me from the start. I always have this problem. Its not me either most the time. I had to swap a motor on my boat one time because I had so much trouble. The dealer hooked me up with a better motor and I wasnt out any money because they felt bad because all the problems I had. Anyway rant off- thanks. I did get a pigeon 60yds earlier. It was luck. I saw where my first 3 shots hit, adjusted and made contact. I shot into a group of three but I think I hit the one I was aiming at. 177 passed clean through.

The air venturi 4500psi tank may well have it’s output regulated to 2500 PSI, which would explain the stop when filling from the tank. I think I read somewhere they were regulated to 3K, but they may well have a tolerance with the regulators, and let one out under the 2900-3000 PSI mark.
Agree on the top hat setting, as far as the amount of air used per shot.

Casey

top hat may be out of adjustment.
