i was bored and decided to make this it is a “grenade” pingpong ball launcher it may work with golfballs i dunno size i dont golf but i wanna try some long distance Beer Pong with this thing it wizzez the pingpong balls

how does your launcher launch? i see the fittings to fill it and a valve but dont you have a valve between chamber and bbl?
ill get some pics of it up this weekend but what i did was take a 5 inch pvc pipe and a reducer to 2 inch then i took 2 90 degrees elbows and connected them to the end of the 5 inch pipe to make a “u” and then i took a pvc chemical dump valve also 2 inches and put this after the “u” and then bbl hooks up to that which is also a 2 inch bbl
as far as the end cap of the 14 inch long 5 inch pvc “chamber” i drilled a hoe in it and then attached a threadable stainless steel valve stem for tires to it and glued the cap on
fill the chamber to 150 psi and loade a tater down the tube and hit the dump valve
it was a college physics experiment and it launched a tater 698 yards
velocity i dunno
the bbl it 5 feet long
for a smaller barrel go with smaller diameter chamber
every inch smaller dia chamber u can go with 1 foot shorter bbl as long as chamber is 14 inches long

crowpopper, how did you make your air cannon, mine is a old propane tank with a piston dump valve and a 1.25 inch bore, 7 feet long. it will shot a 3/4 inch nut about 900-1000 fps on 130 psi. my buddy loaded a shovel in it and it recoiled so hard it dislocated his thumb. i have alway thought jof going deer hunting with it, and have had the cops called on me only twice, most of the cops want to know how it works. if i can email the pic to someone, i will i am trying to figure out posting pics wish me luck
This works pretty good, I used to use this on my neighbors dogs (in their own yard) and even on my own dogs when they would all start barking and howling at night for no freaking reason. 😈
When they would start up I would tap lightly on my window first then I would open it and poke the barrel thru a hole in the screen….pop them in the ass with two cleaning pellets and ahhhhhhh, no more barking mutts keeping me awake at 3 freaking a.m. After a few times of this all I would have to to is tap on the window and all you would see is the north end of a southbound dog!!!! 😯
Sounds like AirSoft dog training. Just shoot it at the stove so it hits metal (big noise) and not the dog, then all you have to do is cock the pistol and the dog straightens up and flies right…
For the sake of pain testing (don’t want to hurt Snoopy) I shot myself in the hand from 1/2″, it hurts but nothing a dog couldn’t handle. Still never placed a direct shot or even hit the pooch with a plastic bb…

I once made a smaller version of that for launching darts, you know, those things you throw at the bullseye, wrapped a tiny bit of cloth around the body for a seal
had to cut down the flights ofcourse
they flew pretty true, but they’re also quite scary if you look at the velocity and weight
also, it’s kind of expensive, since you’ll never find them again, they bury themselves half a meter deep in the sand
testing was done in a secure location ofcourse
*edit* yes, this definitely fits in the “dumb stuff other people should never attempt, but still pretty fun” category

i have a 5 foot potato cannon that it airpowered but is a lil too loud for use where i live plus i might know from experience that it will lkill a turkey so im sure a cat would die

Use cleaning pellets. They lose velocity super fast.
Actually, I think the ping pong would crush under pressure, maybe not.
Now a golf ball, that could be pretty awesome.

the idea is when you fill up the cannon you connect you air hose to the 1/4 ball valve with the air chuck, then when you add air the piston will go forward and seal the back of the barrel with the rubber on the piston, then the air seeps around the piston and fills the tank.
then when it is full you close the ball valve and take off the air hose (very important to close the valve first, will shot off otherwise, another cop story)
to shot you just open the 1/2 ball valve and it creates low pressure behind the piston sucking it back and opening up the barrel.
the biggest problem is the piston it has to be tough light and a really good seal to the 4 ince pipe, but when built right it works very well. they make commercal ones but they are 2000 dollars
