Grouping challenge (or who can beat shooter3)
Hi.
I propose the following challenge.
Please shoot 13 groups, 5 shots in each at the distance of 50 meters (65 shots in total). Then measure each group size. Every flier must be counted. In the end you should sum the group sizes and divide the value by the number of groups.
Here is what I was able to achieve:
The final result is 8 mm CTC. The numbers there are not CTC. You need to subtract 5.5 mm from them.
Are you able to handle that? Are you able to beat me? Let the challenge begin!
P.S. I propose this challenge because posting single groups is not fair. You may shoot a tight group once in a blue moon and you post it. Then everyone says “wooow!”. It has very little in common with a full picture.

Wow, you are patient Greg – 1.5 hours! To be honest it took me about 25 minutes to shoot my groups.
Looks like you lowered the speed – my groups we done with 285 m/s.
BTW;; how can we get SWFA scopes in Europe?
We can’t. But Ville has a friend who goes on trips to US and was going to bring home a swfa for him. I have half a mind to ask if he could get me one

Nice grouping in deed,,, i always loved the .22cal but did a mistake and bought a .25cal and a tons of pellets,, 😥 😥 i believe that .22cal more accurate and better choice for hunting and target practice as well…

Would be cool if u can post some outdoor 1 mag = 10 shot groups as well ….. .. . . wish I had an indoor range too.
But today was wind I had to wait till it settled down for each shot, took me about 1-1.5 hours to complete.
The measurements are all CTC, I subtracted the .22″ from my caliper to take the measurements.
This is from one fill I got 70 shots = 7 mags, but I only 65 shots or 13 – 5 shot groups where taken.
Fill to 210 bar shot down to 110 bar sending JSB 18.1g 2013 batch @ 880 fps.
All shot at 50 meters the average for the 13 targets is about 6.5 mm ctc, targets are 1″ squares …. …. … Thanks EdCanoles !!!
Now, I have time to setup my new SWFA SS FFP scope which just came today ….. …. :5: . .

Please try to shoot 5 shots groups (13 of them) with a clean barrel. Then we will have some comparable results.
Very good day to shoot no wind in early morning, shot these 5 – 10 shot groups @ 50 meters with an old batch of JSB 18g @ 920 fps.
Averaged of 8.412 mm ctc with a dirty barrel of 850 shots …… … .. more to come when it stops raining with a clean barrel.

I use plastic mags only. As you can see no major problems with them. The groups which I posted come from 5 different mags.
The 5 mags shot targets where done sometime ago, I’ll post some new ones when I finish rebuilding the reg.
Theses 10 shot groups averaged .4748″ CTC = 12 mm CTC, not quite 8 mm like yours.
If I used just mag number 1 and or 4, or single load it’ll be better still ?

Could you give the final result, I mean the arithmetic average?
Still working on my Matador, on the right are all 10 shot groups @ 50 yards 1″ targets test shooting to check all my mags mod tweaks that I was doing.

Refilling is the integral part of the test. I had to refill my gun during shooting these groups. Please also remember that the result is just one single number.
It’s hard to beat shooter3’s groups.
I would say 8 or 10 5shots groups be enough since many guns cannot get 65 shots per fill.

Yea, I had to wail in-between wind gusts ……..
Lowered the speed to get me the shot count I need to do all 65 shots on one fill.
