i have been reading alot and i want to buy a talon or a talon ss, but it seems like everyone has a talon SS over the talon. why is this? can’t i get a regular talon that has more velocity than the SS and just put a shroud on it making it as quiet as the SS but more powerful? also does the shroud just screw right onto frame?

Yes, the pump isn’t cheap. But the compressor isn’t $3.5K cheaper than the pump. 😆
can i use an air compressor to fill the tank…. cause that damn pump aint cheap! also how long can i leave the tank filled with air? is it ok to store it filled?
If you want quiet, get a shroud from Tony. So quiet, the first time you pull the trigger with it on you’ll think your gun is broken 8)
I had Tony build a Condor .25, with a 21″ barrel. The frame is the same length as the Talon but is somewhat stiffer because of the extended scope rail. I got a Talon air tank and the valve is modified for more power (than what you would get with a standard Talon valve). I got a “Tony” shroud also. This thing ROCKS! The over all length is 42.5 inches. It is quiet! It shoots 31 gr. Kodiaks around 850 FPS.

If Birdhunters Condor is any indication, Air Force doesn’t even come close to what Tony can do. If you’re going to get a shroud, buy it from Tony. End of lesson :-).

is a regular talon with a tony shroud not as quiet or quieter than the stock SS?
I was going to get the SS but Mac-1 didn’t have it in stock. He had the talon so that’s what I bought.
Put a shroud on it and it’s only 2″ longer then the SS.
I was thinking of getting a 12″ barrel and making it a mini SS.
Right now I am really happy with it so I am going keep it the way it is for a while.
i definatly want an 18″ barrel for more velocity i planned at first to get a SS and buy a 18″ barrel and shroud but it seems to make more sense to get just original talon and and a shroud, right?
The talon and the SS are almost exact. They only differnce is that the tube extendes a little bit further on the SS then the talon.
Talon weighs .25 LB. more due to the longer barrel.
The over all legth is almost the same as well.
They main differnce is the barrel length.
Do you want a 12″ barrel or 18″barrel?
is it easier to hold the SS cause of ther bigger frame?
I have a stock talon 18″ barrel with a shroud that comes out to only 34.5″ OAL.
I have had the airforce laser on it for 8 months and still dead on at 25yards. There is a ton of bad press on the airforce laser but once you dial it in and tighten it down that thing rocks!!
Went shooting yesterday, I didn’t think the Talon was an accuarte gun at 100yards. I was wrong.
We were hitting beer cans filled with dirt every shot. Not just me but others as well. Beeman FT pellets .22cal get an A+++
Rangefinder and a Level is a must at that distance.
I will tell you what I know because I am bored up late tonight. Adam has got a 16″ barrel and a shroud from Tony at talon tunes. They are expensive but from what I have heard they are worth every penny. You would have to contact him for an exact price.
The shroud does not screw into the frame, it just slips in there and is held in with a set screw. A shroud for a .22 will work with a .177, but it will not quit the gun down how it is designed to, but it will help a lot. I do not believe a .177 shroud would work with a .22, you would probably get clipage, but i am not sure about that.
that is a nice setup! and a great scope, what size barrel is that? i want my rifle exactly like that, how much and where did you get that shroud and does it just screw right on? also if i buy a shroud can i use that shroud for a .22 and a .177 barrel or do i need one for each caliber?
You mean like this? I have a longer barrel on my Talon SS with a shroud. You can also do the same with a Talon.
