Guess How Long Desiccant Lasts
I have a Hill pump and put indicating Drierite in. http://www.drierite.com
Absorbs over 20% of it’s weight in water !!
First I am in NC, so it is humid here !!! But the pump is always used in an air conditioned house.
After the second top up at 1 week it was starting to change color !
At 3 weeks and 6 top up fills it was all indicating 😯
So I put fresh in and cooked the old. Then mixed it back in with the rest in the bottle.
A pound has enough for 5 maybe 6 fills. But you just keep cooking the used.
I had no idea that it was used up so fast !

I have a little 40 gram silica gel in a cabinet of about 5 cubic feet. My home is centrally air conditioned. The dessicant changes color in about 2 weeks.
I have a large 900 gram box in a small gun cabinet of about 15 cubic feet. It has yet to change color in 2 months.
