gunpower emptying bottle when shot
hello lads just wondering if my gun is emptying because i only have 130-140 in my divers bottle when firing the valve stays open ..but can stop it from emptying its self by just pushing the breech forward easy with my thumb.. its only about 10 foot pound so not alot of spring preload or anything it just seems to stick??

When this mod is done Brutus what would you estimate the FPS will rise from a stock valve? I am interested in doing this but want to know some bits of info first. Thanks

the valve / top hat had a bur on it i think and would not come out of the valve.. so i put a spanner round the stem and hit it softley it came out put it in easy all sorted no more leaks

there are bits on this site all over the place you just need to find them. there is another site which is helpfun but i cant remember what it is called. if i remember i will post it.
1. empty your bottle
2. remove the valve – this is not easy
3. get a hexkey size 0.05 and put it over a lighter or kitchen hob until hot. insert it into one of the grub screws and leave it there until it cools. repeat this a few times for both grub screws. this should break down the locktite so you can remove the TH. this will allow for fine tuning later on.
4. remove the bolt from the rear of the valve. it has a really small hole in it. bore out this hole. not too much, maybe double the current size.
5. give this part a good clean and make sure there are no metal shaving anywhere.
6. put it all together and fill up your bottle.
7. YOU MUST ADJUST YOUR TH CORRECTLY TO STAY UNDER THE 12FPE LEVEL UNLESS YOU ARE A FAC HOLDER.

If you have the new valve you will find that it is quite consistent at around 10.5FPE. it will stay like this even when loading up the valve spring preload even when adjusting the tophat.
maybe look at getting a hills pump or a higher pressure divers bottle to get the pressure up to the 2800 mark
got a divers bottle mate it just needs testing 🙁 is there any way i could adjust / modifie the valve so it will give 11.5 fpe ?

thats why i can not get over 10 fpe out of it.. only taken the valve off never taken it apart thanks fo rthe info mate very helpful
before you go shopping for springs have you removed the valve before? if you have take it off and give all the parts a clean and check that everything moves freely.

keep the pressure higher and all should be fine
bad news 🙁 is there a way i could get a heavyer valve spring? would that work ? thanks

this happens when the fill pressure is too low or the spring on the valve is not loaded enough.

depends on the top hat placement, main spring and hammer weight. i doubt you would have much trouble getting close to 30fpe with a 12inch barrel.
i can adjust mine from less then 9fpe right up to 40fpe with a 24inch barel just by truning the tophat
