Q:

H&N Barracuda 10.65 Match Pellets…

After about 800-900 pellets, I FINALLY found the one that works in my TSS….and I need to mention the size is 4.50mm NOT the 4.52..which is TOO large and shoots very poorly…the JSB 10.2’s in 4.52mm are also too large and not accurate!! Crosman Premier Ultra-Mags are so big that they actually lead-foul the barrel after about 15 shots 😥 Gun needs the smaller diameter, which I think is a good indication that it is built close to tolerance 😀 😀 😀 ..Nice thought !!
I shot a total of 110 pellets through my Alpha Shooting Chrony …here are results…..PW@4, TH @ 0.074″, start at 3000 fill..stopped at 1850 psi.
I use 5% as my extreme spread…..most gun makers have guns tuned to shoot 10%, I chose the smaller number so that there is less than 1/2″ change in POI ( at 50 yards) with gun zeroed @ 25 yards. high shot was 827 fps….5% of that is 41fps subtracted from high of 827 gives me a cut-off of 781 fps minimum. From the chrony sheets you can see that gives me 51 shots inside my 5% range, starting at 2750 psi, stopping at 2000psi. FPE is low of 14.4 fpe to a high of 16.0 fpe. This suits me fine, as I have an AA S410 that shoots 29 fpe if I REALLY need to damage something 😆 😆 Chrony sheets are posted for reference…

Thanks guys…. LURKER#1-fps was ~850fps….

Good shoot’n Packrat ❗
What was your FPS?

I had been shooting JSBs in my 12″ x .177 Condor but when I put a few Kodiaks in they fit just nice whereas the JSBs were a touch on the loose side. The Kodiaks gave an instant improvement in group size. Maybe the JSBs would do better in .177 at a different speed but I’ll be loading up on .177 Kodiaks on my next order from PA.

dont they have a 4.50 or 4.51 in the JSB’s .

I CANNOT believe it…THIS is my best ever..and I’m officially through with pellet testing on the TSS. .177 cal.
5 shots, 10.2 Beeman Kodiak Match, PW@4, FORTY-SEVEN yards..gun has no performance mods at all….look at this, Man I am one happy-assed TalonSS owner, don’t cha know ❗ ❗ ❗

Yep. I’ve been eating these pellets for 3 years. The MATCH versions are insanely consistent quality control.

WOOO HOOOO !! told ya you could get em all touching!!!

Now for the one pellet hole size group 🙂

Have you tried JSB’s in that gun, they probably will even shoot better.???? Never mind i looked up to your first post. 😕

Got the Kodiak Match, 10.20, and the Kodiak HP, 10.34, pellets and did some group testing…at 25 and 47 yards both these pellets are as accurate as the 10.65 H&N Barracudas 😀 😀 😀 😀 so, I’m going to quit looking for anything better….they are more accurate than I am at this point..Now, If they only made one in like 12.5-13.0g …oh well can always use those Big Boys 😀
If the wind would settle down, I’d really like to see if I can hit anything @ 62 yards…quite a distance with only the 12″ barrel…..anxious to see what it groups like.

OK thanks ❗ ❗ ❗ I’ve found that the 4.50 work WAYYYY better than the 4.52..I sold 3-4 tins of different brands weights cause I had ordered the 4.52…..ba-a-a-a-s groups after about 6-7 shots..So I was just wondering if it was “normal” for TSS barrel to like the smaller diameters thanks again.

I bought these about a year ago, 3K rounds, all from the same batch…. Branded Beeman Kodiak MATCH heavy….

Head / Skirt mm
4.49 / 4.71
4.50 / 4.64
4.50 / 4.67
4.49 / 4.68
4.49 / 4.68

.177 inches = 4.4958 millimeters
Looks like the MATCH pellets run dead on 4.496mm

Hey ssshooter–the Kodiak Match and Heavy pellets you’re using…are they 4.50, 4.51 or 4.52 ???

Livin’ down heah in Jawjuh we don’t get much wind..every once in a while a little swamp gas, but that’s about it 😆 😆 😆

Don’t forget the wind 🙂

Thanks for kind words..at 25 yards, I can shoot ’em into a “cloverleaf”..but this shooting at 47 yards is a little trickier 😆 😆 Soon as I work on the trigger a bit more I think I’ll have some really tight groups..Not that I’m complaining now..hell they’re under half an inch at 47 yards NOW 😯 😯 😯 But, it would be nice if they were all touching 😀

I’ve been a huge fan of Barracuda MATCH and Kodiak MATCH heavy 177 pellets for a couple of years now. I don’t bench rest my gun so I’ve never tried tight groups. But I did sight my gun in at 40 yards with these pellets. They are my go to for long range.

Interestingly they changed the formula a bit – the non match pellets are lighter than the MATCH. This wasn’t always the case.

If you inspect the match pellets they are uniform, clean, very accurate, and they have batch numbers…. you can order them in bulk and have confidence the first will fire the same as the last.

Looking good packrat, 😀

get her good and broke in , and shoot off the peak constant spot in your string.then sort some of those pellets that work good in your rifle, then let’s see what it will do, bet you can get em all touching. 😀
