Q:

Hammer Slap Mod

What is done when getting one of these mods? I’m pretty nervous when it comes to working on something that if I mess up, I’ll be without it for weeks, but my dad is good with that stuff.

What does this consist of and could I do it?

Thanks.

-I’m guessing I need some custom hammer? Where do I get one?

Go for it!

My breech knob kept comming off the breech slide. The threads in that slide were getting bad. Have JB weld fixed it a few times.

I just ordered a new breech slide from airforce.

It only cost $16 bucks plus a few more for shipping!

So if you mess it up, its no big deal.

As far as needing a custom hammer and or high flow valve..save your money try it first.

If you are shooting your pellets at the speed and power you want right now…and your power wheel is on one of the lower settings, upping the power wheel up a few may work just fine…try it.

quote SteveinLA:

Could you purchase a hammer, with the “slap mod”, from Tony, or someone who makes these and just swap it out? He makes them in various weights to fit your application.

That is exactly what I did. 😀 Oh BTW the hammer comes in different weights, I am not so sure about the breech.(that’s where the slap mode goes)

Yep! I’m look’n to do the same to my 18″ TSS. Meaning, I’ve spoke to the company and found that a spacer is provided that is also a weight. When the hammer slams it does so with more hard punch, and also gets to point sooner (mili. sec.). Now hear’s the bogus part but makes sense. When trying to extract more air, it must be POSSIBLE. these stock tanks aren’t. Now it’s time to buy a (the) high flow valve tank. It allows more air out at that hammer instance. They say (suggest) to send the gun in to them, but when I got my 18″ barrel one of the women mensioned the same, to send it in and they would put the barrel in for me! C’mon, I gotta use it yesterday! Sounds fairly straight forward and I’d let your dad take a shot first. Up to you though, first ya need money for the high flow tank…

And if you want to shoot in your backyard without disturbing the elderly old dear next door, devise a cunning method of inserting earplugs into her ears without her knowing.

If the noise bothers you just use some ear plugs.

I’m sure I read here somewhere of guys using rubber washers in certain thickness against the hammer or breach, not sure how good it works though

It involves cutting a groove in the face of the breech, into which an o-ring is glued/epoxied in place. softens the noise of the hammer hitting the breech.

without access to a lathe it would be difficult but not impossible to do.
