Hammer Slap/Ping Sound Reduction
Gents,
I’m a new poster (admittedly, lurking for several days now…) looking for a solution to the Hammer Slap issue as well as guidance on the Hammer itself (e.g. should I purchase an aftermarket variety, why, which weight, and from whom?). I see some very interesting up-gram weighted Hammers on the submission(s) by Argentina Lucas as well as out on TalonTunes.com. Near artwork quality, actually.
Btw, its for the condor in .22 with 24″ barrel.
I’ve spent some time in the sticky section but do not find definitive hammer slap insight/discussion beyond the occasional conversation where its generically discussed as problematic. Are there threads I’ve simply overlooked?

Hammer Slap!
Never really understood the problem. I guess if the fall of the hammers impact bothers a shooter then they might forget shooting firearms all together 😛
The hammer slap will decrease velocity a wee bit. But IMHO is not really a performance upgrade.
If your stock condor hammer is having problems opening your valve then a heavier hammer might be warranted. With the new Condor valve the need for a heavy hammer is not a common as before.
I say shoot the thing stock and make any changes as needed. If you decide you want it modified you that is when you decide if you do it yourself or have someone do it for you.
