Q:

Hammer spring

Should my .25 have the brass hammer spring guide? Mine is only a couple weeks old and this is what it looks like inside.

If I were you I’d clean that grease outa there asap

quote guykuo:

BTW, did your Vulcan come with all that grease on the spring?

Yup, it was a mess in there. Also has some vinyl or plastic tubing on the hammer spring to supposedly dampen the vibration. I’m guessing the grease and the dampener are whats causing it to shoot so inconsistently when the temps dip into the low 20’s. Shoots great when its in the 40’s.

Thanks guy.

The 25’s don’t have a brass spring “guide”. Only on the 17 and 22’s
Omission of that piece allows the spring to deliver more energy to the hammer on the 25’s.
On the smaller caliber Vulcan’s that pieces halts the spring motion and creates a free floating hammer
to improve air efficiency.

There is a new hammer coming out for the 25 in January.

That’s what my stock .25 Vulcan looked like – before I added a rubber grommet to the hammer spring to reduce the noise. The spring guide was another part added as an aftermarket mod. Are you saying that the most recent shipment of Vulcan is supposed to have the spring guide from the factory/dealer?
