Hammer weight for a .177 Talon
What is a good weight for the hammer in a .177 Talon with a 18″ barrel?
Mine was a 21″ barrel in .22caliber but the .22 caliber is a hot topic in South Africa with our strict gunlaws and I would rather play it safe with a .177 caliber.
The rifle in .22 cal produced 950fps with 18gr AA pellets with the powerwheel at 0(lowest setting) with a 90gram hammer. In .177 caliber the hammer will have to lightened a lot I presume ,to slow the pellet down and not waste air.
Any advice will be appreciated

Thanks for the advice about Tony but I think the postage for the parcel will be more than the part’s price as I’m from South Africa. It’s easier and faster to turn a lighter hammer but I need average starting weight.
Go with a restrictive valve spring retainer. Tony sells them.
I have one in one of my Talons with an 18 inch .177 barrel… gets tons of shots. I think I have it set at 14fpe or so currently.
I am not sure what mine weighs, but my Talon SS in .177 with a 26″ barrel sends 16 gr Eunjins out at over 1000 FPS. I think my valve stem has been ported though. I have another valve stem coming. I am trying to tame this beast down a little so I can shoot accurately with it.

ah… yeah, missed the South Africa part.
Wouldnt have a clue on hammer weight for you.
May want to try an O-ring behind the tophat to tone it down a bit. Well documented here as to the results.
