Q:

Hand pump problem

Hello all, my AF pump it stopped working tonight. When I push down it feels like it is pressurized and it won’t go down. I unscrewed the relief valve when I removed the tank, it released pressure and there was no air burst when I removed the tank, but the handle stayed pressurized. I pumped my tank to 2800 psi. all worked fine until I removed the tank. The gauge reads 0 psi.
I know the big problem is that it is an AF pump. I already have it. How can I fix it? Thanks

my buddy and me get a kick out of the fucked up deals that happen
live and learn, if you fuck up twice there is no excuse

Don’t dwell on the past…That’s the females job……Too funny

Ok you still came out ahead

You wanna hear something very funny?
i actually had a hill pump, AND I TRADED IT FOR THIS AF PIECE OF SHIT! 😯

But wait! before you start throwing rocks at me, let me tell you the whole story.
The deal was, I gave my hill pump, and in return, i got
– The AF pump (it was working then)
– A brand new 80cf Scuba tank
– An AF scuba adapter.

So even if i have to drop 30 or 40 bucks on orings, if i get the pump to work properly, i think it was a pretty good deal no?

quote sawtime:

go to oringsusa.com they have all the good shit

thanks, i allready found a local place that sells high quality, german made viton orings in every size and durex rating imaginable.
There kind of expensive, but converting a piece of shit whos only usefullnes is to hold the door open, into a reliable high preasure hand pump, is worth it. 🙂

You know guys, i think the problem with this pumps is that AF uses the cheapest, crappiest, low quality o-rings known to man. The other metal parts seem decently built to me.
I guess viton orings are not considered “space age” by AF 😆

The one i have here, allways breaks due to the oring on the 3rd stage getting trashed. So next week, im gonna take the pump completely apart, take pictures of the orings in their positions, label them (all this so i know where they go when i put the pump back together), and im gonna go to the store to get a replacement for each and every oring in the pump, only in decent quality VITON ones, with a high durex rating.
I think this “oring overhaul” will greatly increase the reliability of the POS pump, and transform it into a DECENT pump.

Ill let you know how it goes.

lubrication, lubrication, lubrication

This is what I did…I let it sit overnight and
the pressure leaked off..Pump worked fine after that
….I then found a Hill pump for sale and sent the AF
pump back as soon as I got the Hill pump…The AF
pump held up until then…If they find out that you took it apart it will not be warrantied…..

I had the same problem, unscrew the brass nut at the base, just slide that moisture cap up out of the way, anyway once you get the base unscewed, you’ll see alittle brass nut in the handle bottom, loosen that slowly the air will eventually shoot out, there is spring, needle valve, and o-ring in there take them out and check the o-ring , I turned mine over + put some silicone on it, next when I put the brass nut back on, oh put the stuff back inside 1st,I found a small spacer, about the thickness of a dime and put that on to hold the brass nut out a couple of turns, you could probably just screw it in and back it off a couple turns and it may just stay there, just test the pump before you put it back on to the base to make sure it is working. When I did get mine working again I only pump 20-25 times and take a break, cause I heated the pump up and had to go through the whole thing again. The problem is the small o-ring is sticking.

1st grabbed it with two hands
2nd throw it in the trash
I have not idea just need some posts
any warranty?
I think someone had posted a way to fix it, but dont remember who it was.
