Hand Pumps?
I was looking into a Hand pump for my Benjamin marauder .25 PCP rifles and possibly for a new Matador.
I was wondering which Hand Pump would be the best to buy?
I have looking into the Hills pump and another from FX.
Also was wondering if I would need any adapter’s or quick disconnects? I know that the Edgun comes with a fill adapter but would it fit something like the hills pump or would I need something else?
The closest Fill station is about 150 miles away and going back and forth is killing me as the gas prices seem to be shooting higher and higher so traveling back and forth is getting old. Two out of my three tanks are close to 15 years old and I should replace them, but if I could get a pump I think I would just keep the 1 carbon fiber one and just retire the other 2.

Is there a Hill pump rated @3500 psi, and one at 4500 psi?
It occurs to me that a pump would need maximum limits to it’s ability to reach a certain high psi pressure. All compressors do, and the Hill is a miniature compressor.

It seems I read something about that somewhere, but at my age I can’t remember whether my pants are wet right now because I just pissed myself, or missed my mouth with my “Mountain Lightening” caffeine drink. The cup IS empty. The problem is I’m not thirsty, nor do I feel the need to pee….so it’s a toss up.
I really hate to start using Depends. Besides, I wouldn’t know whether to put them on the outside, or the inside!!!

I’ve got a Hill Mark III on the way for the Edgun .25 Std that’s (supposedly) also on the way.
Got the Hill from Pyramid for $260 + free shipping during the St Pat’s Day sale.
I’ve raced bicycles all my life so I’ve done a lot of tyre pumping, but not quite sure how the PCP thing will compare.
Looks like a Pump is the way I am going to have to go, I been calling around the past few weeks and the closest fill station is 108 miles/@hr drive away.. The tank I was looking at got about 30 refills off it, but still 2 hr drive to fill would get old in a hurry. Contacted all the local fire stations and they wouldn’t fill the tank, (insurance reasons).. I have a couple of buddies of mine that play paintball looking for a fill station as some paintball guns use compressed air too? Or are they using Nitrogen? I always used Co2 so I am not sure.
It is my understanding that a Hill pump is easy to rebuild and if nothing else it will be worth the learning experience to do such.
As for getting to old to pump, if you pump on a regular basis you will likely get in better shape as time goes on.

There could be. I heard the smallest leak or worn pump O-rings and the hand-pump just will not fill properly. My pump is brand new and I was watching for leaks around the fill probe. It was tight and the pump worked fine. As has been pointed out filling from empty is a real workout but when only topping off the tank it may be much easier.
For an occasional shooter topping off a reservoir, the pump would probably work just fine. If you shoot allot, I can see topping off a few times during a shooting session using a hand pump could get old fast.
If I get into this PCP airgun thing more than I planned too, I will probably end up getting a scuba tank and fill valve setup. At a certain point I’ll be to old to use a hand pump 🙁
Maybe there is something wrong with my buddies Hill pump then. It only pumps to 3300 psi/ 230 bar and if he gets his Marauder much below 2000 psi he really gets a workout. Considering he only gets 16 shots in the .25 that really sux. He hates it but is 72 years old but in good shape. I let him borrow one of my 44 cf 4500 tanks and extra hose assemblies for a while because he is retired on a fixed income but I needed the hose assembly back.

All what ehallspqr wrote is true. I have no problem pumping two times in a row 175ml container. It is wonderful to be independent of the air 😆 Hill pumps are great and excellent quality build.
I am fairly new to high end air guns so maybe I am blissfully ignorant, but I use a Hill hand pump to charge my New Kalibr Cricket and find it isn’t bad at all. I’m older and not in the best shape, so if I can pump up the fairly large reservoir on the Cricket then I assume most people should have no problem. The Hill hose fitting screwed right onto the probe for the Cricket. You may need an adapter but you can get that at the time you get your pump. It should be a fairly inexpensive accessory.
I fill from about the 110 bar level to around 260 which is the near the max for the pump. It takes a few minuets tops and that’s with a break. I do keep at it with a fair pace. Great workout and makes me feel one with the gun 🙂 I like the portability of the pump and getting the air for free. Mine does have the dry-pack filter to screen out most moisture. I bought it new for $290 shipped so the overall cost was quite a bit lower than the new tank/regulator I was looking at.
The Hill is made in Britain and appears to be a quality made product. It is beautifully finished and built like a tank. Pumps smooth and fast and as mentioned fills the large Cricket reservoir fairly quickly. Don’t know about the FX pump but I assume it is a good one also.
How many times do you fill up container from empty ❓
I´m filling HW100 container 175ml from 90-210bar for couple of minutes. Probably cricket/matador container take more time and effort of course 😉

I have been banned twice. I forget what the first time was for, but probably because reverse gear went out in my personality years ago, the 2nd time was me bitching about the Yellow here on the Tag and getting snitced off.
After that Steve and I exchanged emails and I have not had any trouble since then.
