Hands down these are the most accurate pellets I have tried
njnoodles sent me some Promethius 14.5gr .22’s in the mail (thanks noodles) and my original intent was to try them in my BSA Scorpion. They did clear the magazine (just barely), but they were hard to cycle (slight resistance) and they did not group well at all in my Scorpion.
Next I tried them in my Condor 24″ barrel (distance shot on both rifles was 20 yards) mamcrackin brought up a good point in that to really see how a pellet performs you have to increase the distance way beyond 30 yards, etc, but for this initial test I only shot at 20 yards.
The first thing I noticed about these pellets is that they seemed to be the perfect diameter for my breech. They fit in with just the right amount of resistance (perfect). Fill pressure was 2800
A picture tells a thousand words so below is two ten shot group photos. Man, I really think that one shot that is slightly to the right was me pulling, I actually felt it when I squeezed. The 10 shot group was 1/4″ ctc, but if I didn’t pull shot 6 it would have been even better!
The next photo is a 10 shot group with jsb exact 16gr. It measured 5/16″ ctc. So these Promethius edged the jsb’s by a slight margin. Thanks again njnoodles for letting me test these. I will surely be buying some.
Here is a “dumb” question. The promethius (top photo) had a poi that was almost dead center. ten shots later the jsb’s poi was low and to the left (see bottom photo) Any guesses why? I wasn’t pulling each shot was squeezed off with the crosshair dividing the bullseye???

The Defiant range are high velocity, lubricated lead alloy pellets made to extremely high tolerances. They are designed for both hunting and for use in field target shooting disciplines.
The pellets are made from lead alloy wire and the slug length which governs the weight is measured by a laser controlled micrometer ensuring that the wire is cut precisely before being fed into a single die. Any slight variations in weight will be found as a small flash behind the pellets head where is does not interfere with its accuracy.

Just curious, could someone put a magnet us close to the Prometius pellets?
I was surprised when I noticed magnetic attraction of Gamo’s Raptor pellets. The Gamo Raptors must have some iron in their ballistic material.
I doubt they are steel, it would not provide enough weight to carry energy to the target… 😉

The prometheus are made from an alloy mixture and wont harm any barrells.
I too bought some from airguns of arizona, but picked the 17.5 Gr pellets.
For one they shoot faster than an equivalent lead pellet, and they do group amazingly !Fist time i tried them at about 25Metres i was getting one hole groups of 5 shots. And the most amazing part was they were supersonic ! 1260 FPS and grouped into a single ragged hole !
I havent been able to replicate it though… strangley. Havent really tried to be fair. But was super impressed first time out. Never had a pellet other than the eunjin or H&N barracuda shoot so well upto supersonic, but these prometheus pellets just shot perfect.
Now youve got me thinking to try a solid test.. ill get back to ya on there accuracy.
So what are these made of? I would doubt they would hurt the barrel, but I’m no expert.
Steel bbs or pellets will wear the barrel quicker than lead and some may not fit past the reduction in the barrel’s end and will therefore destroy the accuracy of that barrel…
Too bad they don’t make them in .25.
Here is another dumb question. It says on the Airforce box “lead pellets only”. What is the deal with that. Those promethius are not lead and as aforementioned, my barrel seams to love them????

Not with my barrel. Those “Unleaded” Promethius took to my barrel like red lipstick to a lady of the night. Do you mean that when I switched back to the JSB’s that’s why they were low and left????

Not a dumb question and several possible explanations. I just typed out a “term paper” post on the explanations and how to test for them. Unfortunately, I forgot to copy and save and since my log-in had timed out, I lost the whole freaking thing! PM me and I’ll send my phone number if you want to talk about what those groups mean. Yeah the JSB’s have a coating on them .. the other pellets stripped that from the bore possibly leaving something else behind .. your bore will have to be re-coated with the JSB coating before it shoots right again.
I have seen the change over from one coating to the other take as little as 3 pellets … can take more shots though.
