Q:

Happy, Happy, Happy

Nice man driving a brown truck dropped off a heavy box this morning. Way to heavy, had me worrying a bit – but then I recalled there was also 8 tins of pellets and a steel co2 adapter in it – the Talon SS left in the box is not nearly as heavy now. Anyway, I have joined the club and started (ok, continued) down the path to the dark side (black rifle). Not really pc to take it out of the box at the moment, so that will need to weight till after work.

Just like in a .357 or .44 mag, much less a .308 or 300 Mag, you dont’ use wad cutters. They are not for the high performance of our guns. 😉 They are for weak anemic air guns, just as they are for low power loads in .38’s. And are virtually useless at anything like the ranges our guns perform at.

I wanted some wadcutters – Daisy was what was available. I have shot a ton of Crosman wadcutters, both in .177 and .22 – they have been acceptable (abet, with the .22, I simply assumed that was the best the pistol could shoot – I may have been selling myself short there). Could not find Crosman, figured Daisy could not be that much worse – oh well.

You mean somebody actually uses somthing as BAD as Daisy Pellets in this day and age? 😕

I did a lot of paintball when my boys were younger. I’d go Shoebox. I’ve learned to hate CO2, and I live where it’s warm. Consistency is impossible.

Ok, the mandatory un-boxing review. First off, tried to install a CO2 tank with the CO2 adapter – and it leaked…

Ok, will fill the pcp bottle from my sbca – what, the needle is not moving. I bet some kid bled my tank…. Wait, err, maybe it is moving. OM, it is moving, but VERY slowly. I am used to 10M tanks, they take like 5 seconds to fill with my valve/hose. The Airforce Tank took about 1 minute. This thing is going to bleed my sbca dry in no time (oh, found out earilier in the day that my local paintball shop is out of business. Air is a bit harder to come by now.

Took it out to the backyard range, trigger feels fine, noise level anticipated and acceptable. PING, PING, PING (metal trap). What the…, that is a pattern not a group. PING, PING, PING – no better. Out of time.

Did take it back out on day to with 4 other brands of pellets – and it did considerably (remarkably) better. Not sure if the first tin was simply damaged (I did notice at least one bent skirt), or that the gun really hates Daisy pellets. Daisy was over 2x the group size as any other pellet. I was not on good bags, and I was dealing with discount optics. I think once I am finished outfitting the rifle it will be a fine addition. Not 100% sure what to do with the CO2 adapter thought. Return to retailer, and use the money as a down payment on a shoebox, or return to AF and actually get one that works.

Very nice!
