Has anybody ordered the A.F. "Target" sight set?
These http://www.airforceairguns.com/targetsights.html I’m wondering what is so good about them that they cost so much? I’ve always liked open sights, but I’m wondering if they are over priced because they’re made by A.F. or if there really is something special about them??? Your opinions please…..T.I.A.

i have the front sight part of the AF ‘target’ sights and use a Mendoza rear peep aperture for the rear.
I’d prefer some sort of hooded M16/AK style front sight. (if available)
where i prefer open sights, they are limited…especially at low light times. a good set of tritium sights cost as much as a decent grade scope, though and i don’t know of any that would work on an AF installation.
A set just got listed on the Yellow, a little slow, just saw them on here in the for sale section.

I have a set that come with the SS I bought off of this site.
I like the scope and I like the sites. Uh It’s a matter of preferance. IMO.

Merit is expensive but by all accounts they are the best… The variable aperture blades and construction are high quality. I have one my my IZZY and couldn’t be happier.
I am amazed at how well an aperture stacks up against a scope. And how the humble pinhole camera we learned about as kids can be applied to our own vision.
Yeah, I use an adjustable peep (I believe made by Merit) on my Beeman for hunting, used it for many years with great results. I just can’t see what makes these so expensive. Hell, they’re more than some decent scopes. Although the weight savings appeals to me.
I’ve used transparent front peep sights with a rear peep sight… I think that has better FOV.
I’m a fan of peep and post with a hood over the front post. Center the hood in the peep and place the post at 6 o’clock.
If you have ever used the double circle type of sights for target shooting, you know there is nothing better. The target goes in the front circle, which goes in the second circle. Much easier than normal sights, and if the circle size is good, much more precise. For targets there is nothing better.
I don’t think they would be much good for hunting though. FOV is very restricted. It would just be hard to aim at something.
But that’s just my thoughts on the type of sights. As for those specific ones, I dunno. 🙂

I tried a set. Well made from a quality of materials and construction standpoint. Very adjustable. I used the rear sight in a 1″ scope ring for a while. I did find them to be clunky. Think about it – they are designed to be adjustable enough to work on the same frames we all complain abut the scope height on…
If you take the time to get them set up just right and can leave them alone, great! if you are thinking about field use I think you’ll find the front sight vulnerable up on that one sided slide.
Sold mine. If I were shooting regulation 10m with my edge, I’d use them. If I really wanted open sights on my talon I might use them, but would look to see if other option would work. I still have 2 front sights if you want detailed pics.

Isn’t the Mendoza rear peep cheap? I don’t cheaply built, I mean economical. How do you like that setup?
