I looked at turning my att44w long into a bullpup cost was $400 to buy a nice stock with the hardware …. if I bought another new att44 long .25 it will cost around $500 …so it’s a wash ….. and the gladius is set up better WAY ! better anyway … and if I don’t like it .. I send it back with in 30 days ..no loss …
DIY is the way to go if you want to save money and have a gun that fits your needs. Considering that the BP kit manufacturer takes their profit and Hatsan takes their share from the gun, I would say that Hatsan BP should be cheaper than a gun + kit. After all that gun + kit approach includes one extra stock to start with and mass production should bring the BP conversion price down – if we could even call it a conversion when it’s factory made – just some extra parts added to the basic gun package.
at $836 my gun sold out in just a few days at pyramyd air , as long as the gun performs like my other hatsan / Mrod I will be happy with it at this price for sure ! …. if not I send it back no loss …
cost wise I can not find another bullpup that I know of with the side lever by the trigger that I really wanted …1-5 power fast tuning selector knob …. fast tuning of the hammer spring with out taking off the stock . … 3= picitanny rail’s full adjustable stock with three mag holders … full shroud ….adjustable cheek piece … comes with its own custom cut case with sling and cut outs for ammo and the gun and sling …I am used to having to buy another boyds case ….
for me maybe the weight would be the downside ….although the people that have shot it say it is very well balanced … so it does not feel to bad is what they have stated …
I bought the Gladius because of all the above ,and it is a bullpup with a tactical look , and is some thing I have neither of in my current collection …every thing I have has a nice wood stock on it …in a mostly long gun format ..
I couldn’t either so I made one using old Gamo Dynamax as the base gun. Total cost was around 400$. Front sidelever, BSA barrel, adjustable buttplate, weaver rail, RVA, extremely good reflex shroud etc. The point being I personally wouldn’t spend that much money for a Hatsan bullpup as you can get a base Hatsan for 350-400$ and turn it in to a pup for 100-150$. For 600$ a factory made Hatsan pup would be a good deal.

Of course Hatsans can be made to rather good guns, it’s just that many of those need DIY work to meet their full potential. There have also been many horror cases about their quality problems but I’m not going in to that, I heard they have improved recently – at least to a degree.
If those Hatsan pups were in the 600$ neighborhood I might get one for a project gun, for 900$ I’d rather start with a better gun and do a pup conversion.
$ 836 shipped to my door is what I payed …coupon- pyramyd air …

In general 1″ of extra barrel length adds about 10 fps. In case of XP it’s tuned to max and I believe the valve closes after the bullet has left, thus it will gain a bit more than that 10 fps as it is seriously barrel length limited.

keep in mind the long barrel adds 100fps …to what this short barrel is shooting fps wise .
4″ extra barrel length makes 100fps extra? Hatsan must have some new technology at their disposal.
The gun is heavy, front cocking and price is less than most other pups. I think it will grab it’s share of market. We shall see if they are good out of box or DIY man’s gun like Hatsans used to be.
I think BWalton has proved the one he has works very well … I hope the one I get works good as well … as far as fps goes …. the numbers are what hatsan claims …
I kind of wonder myself unless the shroud QE system has some thing to do with it … 28 vs 36 in the xp ranger 45 is over 100 fps dif … but that is 8 inches …I know my .25 … att44 long has the German steel LW barrel and it shoots right with the My Mrods .25 green mountain barrel …
BWalton does a recut 11 degree crown on his barrels on his personal gun’s $25 is what he charges … and I have watched those gun’s shoot right with the best FX guns … I was very interested in the FX impact but at $1899 and when it has had some bad issues that I have not seen on my Hatsan or Mrod … makes me think they did not test those guns enough and why pay all that INSANE mark up !… for a flawed product that AOA marks up to the moon !

I think this Hatsan Gladius will be a hit in a very short time … this video has a out of the box short barrel version … there is also a long … I have one coming that I just bought in long …. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4srIc0woFDc

Cricket: Why do you say that? In my mind and my initial thought is Hatsan is not a top tier airgun manufacture, but quite a few people have a lot of good things to say about them. I also thought that about the Vulcan but it seems to be in the top five bullpups of choice right now (Edgun, Bobcat, Vulcan, mutant, and Cricket), not nessecarily in that order.
I have to disagree. More power is not necessarily better. First you have to be able to hit what you are shooting at.
Also, the ergonomics have it hands down over many of the bullpups that are merely air rifles in bullpup stocks like the Cricket, Edgun, etc.
It is going to come down to how well the entire package works together as to whether it will get my greenbacks.
If you read the specs of the gun you see that it cannot compete with the other bullpups,
Here is a little more information on this new bullpup.
It looks like Hatsan is going to give all of the bullpup companies a serious run for their, or should I say our, money!
:winkn:

HA ! boy did you end up being WRONG ! I got the hatsan in… and now we all know it is well worth the $836 that I spent on it …shoots a hole in a hole at 50 yards …. it has the front side lever cocking like the fx impact that works smooth and perfect … this gun the Gladius is way better than some hacked up mess borrowed one from another gun that you are describing
