Q:

Hawke Sidewinder 30 SF 8-32×56 ½ Mil Dot 20X On Cricket?

I have been considering upping from my normal Hawke Sidewinder Tactical 6.5-20×42 ( I have 4 of them with one borrowed on the Cricket now) to a little more mag for the Cricket. Anyone have one of these on their Cricket or Edgun. Interested in optics quality at high magnification. I run my Tacticals at 20x most of the time and they are bright and clear enough. Are they fairly clear at 32x? Any info appreciated. I found them for US $449.

Thanks in advance.

I just posted a few test images under,

I got 4017

Wow I could have saved $2 in shipping/insurance there. 😛 All of my Sdewinders and my Nightforce scopes are big boys. Most of my shooting is from a bench rest (even outdoors) so I don’t even notice. I almost never shoot off hand or standing and use a bipod or shooting sticks at a minimum. I ordered from bowhunterssupplystore and have had good luck with them but I have looked at opticsbestbuy before. Are they pretty good?

I have this scope…the 4016

Like you, I like to shoot at 20power.
The 32x is only used to fine-tune rangefinding, and for doing long range spotting..to see where the pellets hit. At 32x is almost a self contained spotting scope.

To be honest its a big heavy scope. I do love the 1/2md reticle.
It is a big beast and to be honest I don’t use the 32x very often.
The 6×20 scope would have been just fine. But its nice to have the ability to range and shoot at 32x..

I like it.

THanks. I went ahead and ordered it. $463 shippped. All of the Field Target guys on the YF seem to like it and they tend to be pretty picky. You probably need a larger side wheel for ranging FT but they say the optics are fine. I look forward to some picts!

32x at dusk might be a little dim but I turn the magnification down for evenings sparrows and use the illumination. :4:

I got one recently, but have not got a big time to shoot with it. I will try to take some pictures tomorrow and post them here.
