Hawke Sidewinder SR Pro 8-32×56 on Cricket and Edgun
I have worked out the settings on the new Hawke Sidewinder SR Pro reticle scopes on both my Cricket Std .22 and Matador Std .25. I am really liking them relative to the four (plus one Panorama 1/2 mil dot) Hawke Sidewinder Tactical 6.5-20×42 scopes I have on my other PCPs with the standard 1/2 mil dot reticles but they took me a while to learn. I tend to pest (shoot sparrows :)) at ranges out past 100 yards quite a bit from a bench rest. They are easier for guestimating elevation and windage at longer ranges IMO. The christmas tree design has varying aimpoints that just happen (great design) to correspond to equidistant points on the trajectory curves for typical pellet velocity. I have them set so that each major increment represents exactly 10 yards in range (5 yards for 1/2 increments) out past 100 yards and the windage increments match up in 5 mph increments by 90 degree wind adjustments. I no longer need a cheat sheet on the gun or scope cover like I do with the 1/2 mil dots (as long as I know what yardage the gun is sighted in at) and the 1/2 increments are right on the money. I run the scopes at 24x. Anyway, just curious if anyone else had taken the plunge with the new SR Pro glass etched reticles and what they thought. I think they have been out since about December 2012.

That’s cool. I like hearing the .22 Predators shoot well in something. I honestly didn’t even try them in my Cricket yet.
Here is my very first shot string with my new Matador standard .25 after about 500 shots through the gun. Frankly, I am a little surprised at the string from what I read (shot count). I went from exactly 220 – 100 bar from the guns gauge. It seemed to be dropping of off the reg before 100 (more erratic after about shot 47). I had a few errs but not bad for a Chrony. The std dev of shots 1 through 47 is 4.15. Shots 1 through 55 is 4.86. Average velocity of shots 1-47 is 922.21 FPS. 1-55 is 921.44 FPS. Basically 48 FPE with Kings. I am seeing consistent accuracy (regular sub 1/2″ groups with Predators) out to 50 yards with no sign of flyers so I don’t see a reason to change a thing. I have not tested it past 50 yards.
What do you Matador guys think?
The 25 Predators POI was appx 1/4″ rt at 30yds at first. Now that its broken in the POI is identical out to 60(Farthest I tested and shoot them anyway in either caliber).
The 22 Predators are a hair flatter trajectory(appx 1/8″ at apex) over JSB 18s out to 60 with full expansion on small game. Great rat, squirrel pellet as it dumps all of energy with full expansion in first 1.5″ of penetration.
