HEadline news man kills cats !!!
A trail of dead cats was traced back to a Jacksonville homeowner who police said shot the felines with a pellet gun to protect a koi pond in his front yard.
Dana A. Charlton, 30, of the 3400 block of Mayflower Street was charged with animal cruelty Thursday, according to a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrest report. He posted $1,500 bail and was released from the Duval County jail.
Neighbors contacted authorities when area cats started turning up with pellet wounds. The report didn’t make clear how many cats were killed or injured.
One of the cats was found bleeding in multiple places and throwing up bile. The pet’s owner took it to a veterinary clinic where the animal died from a fatal abdomen wound, according to the report.
Charlton’s wife surrendered his pellet gun to police, the report said. His 3-year-old child told officers “Daddy likes to shoot cats.”

Nobody but nobody mentioned an upgrade to.25 to limit the distance the shot cats may stray. This combined with some range time would have prevented this entire mess. Piss poor gun control always leads to trouble. Aim straight and your good.

I can understand his frustration as I have a koi pond in my yard. They are like pets, very intelligent fish indeed. You can see it in their eyes when they look at you. I don’t have his problem, however, my yard is patrolled by two pit bulls. Every so often a cat, coon or opossum makes the fatal mistake of entering.

If that dipshit had one of Tony’s sticks it would have paid for itself as he could have stuffed em in the fridge and at the end of each month he could visit his local chinese restaurant for some quick change.
I love cats but if they have wandered from their owner’s property and are destroying or killing another’s property they deserve to be dispatched like any other pest.

I would call animal control until they stopped showing or the owner of the cats have paid so much they keep the cats indoors (keeping good records the whole time, lost fish, number of calls, type of cat, etc.). Then IF that didn’t stop it I would effectively eliminate the cats and take them far, far away for disposal. Once I could prove that the owner and the city was doing NOTHING to control the cats, I don’t see how I could be prosecuted for protecting my personal property and pets…
A cat killing someone’s fish is the same as a dog killing someone’s cat. Although i’m sure the cat owner would argue this is not true. Again the serious double standard, pets are pets, birds, fish, reptiles or mammals…

I am all for shooting feral cats. I say blast them all. But somebody’s cat, nope. There are a couple around here, one is fat and healthy, and the other is mangy and nasty. The fat one has a collar, it’s one that just got out. The mangy one is feral. I am going to shoot that one.
Now, people really should learn to keep their animals on their property. I have returned several dogs that I caught in leg traps because they were cruising around where they weren’t supposed to be. One lady tried to tell me she was going to turn me in for trapping. I told her it was legal for me to be trapping there, but there are leash laws that say it’s against the law for her dog to be running around there. Never heard from her again. 😆
