Q:

Heavy 177 Pellets…

I use H&N Barracuda Match (Beeman Kodiak Match) religiously for long range and H&N/Beeman Crow Magnums for close(ish) rat control. Two great pellets.

My question is… what 177, Talon SS, pellet should I experiment with if I need to take a raccoon? Plus what technique has worked for you? I know a .22 would be better but I use 177. Are there heavier / higher pen pellets to play with?

How about those pig kill’n gamos!

So it sounds like a 12″ SS firing 177 Baracuda’s would do the job with a well placed shot inside 15-20yards… Good to know… I can have some confidence with that setup should the need arise.

Thx.

Ive dropped a racoon at just about 20 yards with a .177 Kodiak- my SS at the time was running the 18″ barrel and it sent the pellets out at 960 or so. Crosman Premiers did really well also -tended to be slightly more accurate at that speed as well.

H&N make a Rabbit mag 16gr and Eun Jin makes a bit heavier one both good pellets never tried them in 177 I found them at Pyramyd Air here is a url Also Kodiaks will work for coons aim for the ear in a side shot
