Q:

hellcat AKA talon P

Hi, im from England. i have a Hellcat known as Talon P in the states. i brought this brand new. i seem to be having real trouble with its power. in UK your allowed upto 12ft/lbs of power. well my hellcat is putting out around 6ft/lbs. i know the hellcat version in the states has a slider type switch which can alter power output, but the UK version does not have this feature. anybody know how i can increase the power output to UK legal limit, i want it putting out 11ft/lbs. its .22 cal. if i cant do it myself, im going to have to take it to a gunsmith, ive already asked local gunsmiths but they wont touch it due to its pistol type format. as UK law says air pistols can only have 6ft/lbs power and rifles 12ft/lbs. the hellcat is a classed as a rifle in UK but some gunsmiths still wont risk it.

ive never owned a gunpower rifle before. is it just a case of adjusting the top-hat with the two grub screws?

the shop i brought from only deal in selling of air rifles but they dont have a gunsmith. i know i should of returned it as not fit for purpose but ive had the rifle 4 months now.

thanks, i doubt im capable of carrying out the work it needs, i have found a gunsmith who may be able to sort it for me. i have asked 4 local gunsmiths who all declined to look at it, one of them even denied that the hellcat/talonP even existed!! its because they dont want to risk their job and getting in trouble with the law, if the law sees them increasing power of what some may say is a pistol, but the law clearly states that the hellcat is a rifle. we have some funny gun laws in the UK made up by some very funny people in power.

Washer or bushing put behind the spring might do it

You need to find out what makes it 6ftlbs.

Could be several things such as the hammer spring, valve stem, valve body, valve spring..
