Hello from a new member
Hello. I am a new forum member located in North Carolina (High Point area). I started reading your forum about 2 weeks ago. Thanks very much for the information.
I got started with adult air guns a little over a year ago with an air rifle I bought at a local sporting goods store (Gamo Whisperer). I have had a lot of fun with the Gamo. Funny how you don’t know what you are missing (or getting into) sometimes.
Three weeks ago, I bought a .22 Condor from Pyramyd air. I got it with open sights, 2 hi-flo tanks, 1 micro-meter tank, 24″ barrel, and 12″ barrel and SS end cap. I am using an 88 cubic foot carbon fiber tank to fill it. I haven’t found a good fill spot for my carbon fiber tank yet, but there is a paint ball shop that will do it for $25.00. I am checking around for other options.
I am still learning the basics of the rifle, but having a lot of fun along the way. I’m sure before long, I’ll be looking to get some of the amazing work done to my Condor that I have read about on the forums.

That is great news. I have an air hog tank that is set up with foster style fittings. My friend recharges fire extinguishers for a living, so I am sure he can walk me through whatever fitting adapter I may need (which I might not need one). I will talk to my friend to see about the possibility of him filling it with nitrogen.
I just want to double check that I understand this. There is no need to empty out the tanks (condor tanks and my carbon fiber tank) before the first Nitrogen fill? It is ok to mix the nitrogen with HPA?

HPA = 78% Nitrogen, no conversion necessary – just a matter of what connectors they have to fill your tank, which you could run into the same issue getting HPA and isn’t related to the properties of the gas.

No conversion needed. Just fill as you would with air.

I spoke with a firefighter I know and unfortunately, they are not allowed to do fills at their station. I’ll see if I can find another department that will, but I don’t know anyone else at this point, and making a cold call is harder than if you know someone.
Get him to fill with Nitrogen then.

I will try the fire department. I don’t know anyone at the fd, but might have a friend that does.
I know a guy that recharges fire extinguishers for a living. I talked with him about filling the tank. He could do it if it was Nitrogen or CO2, but he doesn’t deal with HPA at all. He also suggested the fire department, so I just need to try to get a contact there.
I have never heard about the Welder supply shops, so if the fd doesn’t work it, I will look for one of those.

Check with welder supply shops or any place that services fire extinguishers….I got my tank hydroed and filled at the latter of the two..
Am i like the only person on here that gets their air from a vollenteer fire dept.those guys have to use so many hours a month to keep the comp up to spec.Im telling u give it a try.Plus its free.
The “professional paintball” people are second in line behind the airsoft folks in annoying. 😆
Not only was the price high, but the guy was kind of hard to deal with. He bragged about being a professional paintball player and the price they quoted me on the phone was $5.00 — they thought it was a small paintball tank and didn’t understand at was 88 cubic feet (even though I described exactly what it was over the phone giving the cubic feet and PSI).
Hopefully, I’ll find a better place to fill it. I have asked at some dive shops, but haven’t found anything yet. I would be happy with $15.00 per fill, especially if the folks are good to deal with.

Only thing that will happen is you will have 90% nitrogen mix the first time and as you repeat fill it will slowly become 100%. Like nitrogen in your car tires, it’s basically the same as compressed air… They say it’s more stable.
