Q:

Help a UK buyer decide on a scope

Well, I’m ready for a new scope for my set up and have had a bit of trouble finding one that I like. Firstly I am in the UK, I would go onto a UK forum but they are so pussy scared about high powered rifles they won’t give advice, or they suggest the most expensive one they have and say that any other one is shit.

But here are my requirements

Mil dot

Anything above 6-24×50

Mil dot

Side focus but not essential.

Price between £100-200

I would like one of the hawke range but I think the might be JUST out of my price range

Thanks

Dave,
I have the Hawke 8.5-25 x 42 Tactical Sidewinder. They are $400 here. I highly recommend it. The half mil-dot is awesome.

Oldgoat is right, it’s not as clear or bright as the 4200, but it certainly is better than it’s price.

I know what you mean about the cost of things…but I’ve learned to buy my “last” product “first” instead of settling for something you knew wouldn’t be what you wanted. In other words, get the best you can afford.

FWIW Optics Planet WILL NOT ship scopes internationally, scopes, rings, bipods, etc are export restricted from the US.

Hope that helps. Please let us know what you decide.

That’s great advice Oldgoat, I was looking at the Hawke range and would like one, but one with the specs I want (e.g. Side wheel, mil dot, target turrets, 32 mag, 50+ objective would put me at around £250 or about $500-600.

Maybe it is be being a tight arse with my cash but I can’t justify spending that much on a scope. 🙂

But thanks for the help guys

Sometimes the right price is the highest amount you can stomach without getting yourself sick.

I don’t know what the US to Euro excange rate is but, I have a Hawke 8.5-25 X 42 Tactical and I really like it. It comes with the 1/2 mill dot map 20x reticle. It has 8 mil dots. I got it for $429 US.

I also have a Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24 X 56 Tactical. I gave $650 for it, it is listed for $950 MSRP. The Bushnell is a little clearer and brighter than the Hawke. I am really impressed with the Hawke and if I can sell the Bushnell, I will buy another Hawke.

You might want to save up whatever the English equivalent of US pennys are and get the Hawke.

By the way, I will make you a really good deal on a Bushnell. 😆

Cheers guys, I had a quick look at the leapers and the SWAT 8-32×56 mil dot seems to have everything I want for only £125

I don’t fancy spending much more because I can get a whole new stealth for about £250

I’ve never used super expensive/good scopes and have been pleased with all of the scopes I have.

Looks like it is going to be the leapers

Thanks for all the input guys

Dave

Dave I will stick my neck out on this one, uttings are doing Nikon monarchs for £249. I have some decent glass on my guns, but the Monarch I have is truly outstanding for definition, build in any light.Hard to beat for your budget and I know where U R coming from with the UK forums mate!

Dave, hold on to your cash until you have a little more.

I used some cheap scopes before and was always disappointed.

Having said that, if mam’ is recommending those, they are worth a look…
