Q:

Help Breech froze-up

Bought a 30 cal. barrel and breech, and shot like 100 shots, now the breech froze up, what to do, can you take the barrel down some more to solve this, or what.

Grooves have to be cut right to get a nice fit on barrel. What OD is the barrel at the breech.

I just got through machining down one of his .357 barrels for a member. Can’t run a .500″ barrel with a .357″ hole. You get tank dump when you try to make power. I made a new breech and turned the barrel down to .421″. Also made a delrin adapter for the tophat to get rid of the nonsense it came with.

How true, I must of lucked out, on the 1st one, the 45 that is, oring is way to tight, how did you fix the problem. cut the groove deeper?

Sounds like the grooves weren’t cut the right size and the o ring it to tight on the barrel. Let me guess it’s from eldy.

I have the weirdest breech, everytime I remove it from the barrel, it pops real loud, like alot of suction in there, this last time the oring disappeared. Funny huh, I can’t understand why the oring is so tight.

Used some fine sandpaper on the oring area and it is perfect now, Thanks Marc for giving a shit!! Well after shooting it some today the clearance must be still a smudge to close, have to lube alot, It must be scaping it clean, but it is alot better then it was.

delrin, somebody said I could sand the oring, I was thinking of trying it without an oring, I cannot understand why it would even do this tighten up all of a sudden like that. I would have to guess no clearance for lubrication, it will cock and all, but it has so much resistance it keeps the fps slow, under 900, with the pw doing nothing.

Wss it an aluminium breech
