Q:

Help Broken Cricket

Went to shoot today and got 5 shots out before it quit.
Seemed like it was out of air even tho it had a full tank.

Took gun apart and the plastic spring holder on the valve plunger(?) was broken

Where can I get the broken part?

I think I can make one out of brass or alum. Will the added weight of the brass/alum affect how it opens and closes?
Which material would be better? I assume that I would still have to use the stock plunger rod because the alum/brass would deform overtime

Its the plunger(?) next to the valve housing
and the snap ring is not a part of the valve I have no idea why its there

4500psi fill on a Cricket gets me around 90 shots (4500-1500psi).

The EdGun R3.5 on a 3000psi fill gets me 140 shots (3000-1200psi). And on top of that my EdGun reg is still adjusted too high for the velocity I am shooting at. 😉

My unregulated USFT get’s 110 shots from a 1600psi fill (1600-1000psi).

I thought the reg on Crickets was a bit more efficient in comparison. Apparently not .
Is the 3.5 reg that much better compared to a 3 modell? See what you’ ve done: Now i want one of those ….

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2. This POS iPhone sucks though …

Mac-1 USFT, likely the least glitchy air gun made. 😉

Not much can go wrong without a regulator. Comes with an extra valve stem if you happen to bend the original.

I bought one new in 12/2011 and have 15,000 shots on it, only need to clean the barrel. Have another that was used with probably 50,000 shots and i’ve added another 10,000 to it, don;t even need to clean the barrel on that one.

Fewer moving parts=fewer issues.

Crickets and EdGuns are both fantastic machines, problems are a given. 😉

You know what would be awesome, putting the R3.5 reg in a Cricket. 😯

Of course they do. I just mean the Crickets aren´t immune to that. A while ago i read a topic bashing EdGuns with bold statements about Crickets not having any problems whatsoever and EdGuns having nothing but. I say, again-just like i did back then, wait till the Crickets have been on US shores a while and you´ll see exactly what we start to see now – there are no airguns without any glitches. It doesn´t matter whether an EdGun,Cricket,Daystate,FX or whatever brand.

Yeah, get an EdGun, they never break! 🙄

Today I lost power to strip the gun. I was angry and put the gun to the case only 😡

Haven´t seen the Cricket reg/valve assy but if it works like the one in EdGun there´s no need to re-adjust the reg. Just change the valve rod.
You see – it´s not just the o-rings on those Bugs either … 😉

Today I get one shot and finish 🙁 👿 Pressure shows 150bar and after cocking the gun press the trigger and hear only silent click. Cricket stopped shooting. Seems like gun without pressure but there is more than 150bar. Should I have same thing – broken valve?
If yes when I replace for new how I set the regulator for properly pressure? 🙁

quote octavius:

maybe crickets with colored pressure gauge were equipped with plastic…???

Probably either way as of a couple hours ago mine has the new one

maybe crickets with colored pressure gauge were equipped with plastic…???

Then my becoming .25 should have the alum. one it being from the newest batch. It´s soon here so i´ll check ..

The new valves are aluminum with a rubber stopper. I have a early model that doesn’t have that upgrade but it will later today

Now we start to see the difference between EdGun & Cricket and how they hold up. Although the EdGun solution isn´t bulletproof,at all, but atleast the valve rod isn´t made out of plain hard plastic. Come to think of this – why don´t they both make those pieces out of aluminium or brass in the first place?? I don´t like the Cricket solution for shroud alignment either. Those guys are too fond on plastic .. 😐

Dima from kalibrgunusa sent me a replacement today. I should have it tomorrow. Excellent customer service and fast shipping.

My cricket s# is 242
