Help me decide… raw power or something else for 100m?
All right guys, I’m new here!
New to all Airforce stuff, but certainly not new in the airgun/PCP scene.
I want to buy my first Airforce and want to create an accurate setup for 100m (110yards) or possibly more.
I’ve been thinking about two setups:
– Condor with .25 24″ TalonTunes barrel, for ultimate power! (65fpe?)
– Condor with Talon valve, .22 24″ barrel. (35fpe?)
The thing is, I really do not know what to get. Sure, it’ll be used for plinking, but I want something that is accurate for at least 35shots at 100m.
Could you guys give me a hand at this?

I shot to meters pretty accurately with 40fpe using a standard talon valve, 24″ LW in .22cal, i do not need more power and i get around 45 shots at that power.
For now I’ll stick with the stock .22 24″ LW barrel… in a future upgrade I can always buy a new (BSA) barrel, even in a new calibre. 😉
I am more interested in a regulator from Airhog or someone else.
So my shortlist:
– Regulator for Airhog or someone else?
– Blodnob valve. (Do not yet know where to buy, and if it’s compatible with a regulator.)
Aaaaaaaaaand, is the Blodnob valve still at use with the Condor? I am 100% positively sure that I’ll go for a condor 😉
I am basically looking for what everyone wants… a fast, hard hitting gun with nice accuracy at 110yards for at least 30 shots.
Hopefully the hard shooting part will be covered by the Blodnob valve, and the consistency and amount of shots by the regulator?
100M is a long way for an airgun. I’d go for a long barrel in .25 so I could shoot a high BC pellet/bullet at the best velocity to get the best performance at that range.
I can vouch for that : ) BSA barrel all the way.
Personally, I would go for a .22 HW or BSA barrel in a Talon w/ one of SelphB’s Blodnob Valves. It would be infinitely tunable and the quality of a HW or BSA barrel is supposedly higher than a LW.
As we say over here in the U.S…. “you pays yo’ money and you takes yo’ chances.” 😆
Honestly, either set-up should work fine, and it doesn’t take a ton of money to re-configure the gun should you want to try something different.
But you’ll need to spend more money right out of the gate for the .25 barrel. Start with the basics (.22) and go from there.

So yeah, I guess I got a little carried away with the fpe! lol. (Who doesn’t the first time, seeing all those .223 and 9mm conversions)
Shooting wildlife is illegal here in the Netherlands, so nope, only shooting targets and cooking pans, lol.
Although I’d have to admit it can be VERY windy out here… almost all the time there is wind anyway.

In the Netherlands they told me a Condor with Talon valve and 24″ .22 barrel (35fpe) would be more accurate than a stock Condor (50fpe) on 110 yards….
I am not too sure about this, because the pellet that comes out of the condor travels faster. (Thus maybe less influenced by wind?)
I really want to make the right decision. 🙂

The JDSairman regulators look awesome! Wouldn’t a “48 cu. in. 3000psi input / 1400psi to 2500psi regulated output = $127.00” be great in 2500psi?
you’re right, not mass made….Check JDSairman.com and AIRhog.com
They both have setups that can improve accuracy….AirHog would be my first choice…Talk to Van or Martin….
If you can’t shoot wildlife and you’re only shooting targets, I see no need for .25cal, unless you’re thinking about managing cross-breezes. There are fewer pellet choices in .25, they cost more, and a target doesn’t care if it’s hit with 30fpe or 100fpe.
IMO, start with the Condor in .22 with 24 inch barrel and the Condor tank. That should give you the best “basic” platform for 100yd shooting. Obviously, you can switch the barrel out and do other mods later if you want to.

I mean, Power is fun, but it ain’t everything! I don’t want it to really hurt the accuracy…
And how about the amount of accurate shots at 110yards?

110 yds is a long way….
Keeping the FPS below 1,000 is the way to go when looking for accuracy.. 850 to 950
I believe is the Desired fps for several pellets.
The pellet weight would determine the accuracy of the 2 Condors…A Talon tank might
have a hard time getting a 21gr kodiak above 850 but the Condor tank would surely
do the trick. For plinking the Talon tank
would be your tank for the highest shot count with JSB 15.8gr….
I have no experience with .25 cal….
Any way you go a regulator would enhance the whole accuracy
thing if you can find a good one….2,000-2,200psi output works great.

Well the Condor comes with a 24″ barrel so you’re set…Stock Condor will sling 15.8 JSB’s over 1,200fps

I would really like to get a 24″ barrel, way nicer looking tbh. A moderator ain’t needed… We can’t shoot wildlife here so only targets. Big piece of land, so no neighbours to bother!
