help, removing the valve

finally got my valve back from selph…was wandering if anyone knows how to take off the blodnob valve from the tank…but if anyone would like to buy it, Im willing to just sell it, instead of going through all the hassle of taking it off if anyone wants it…

I jerry rigged a wrench to do the job. I went to harbor frieght and bought a cheapo adjustable cresent wrench. Then mig welded on the ends two steel nubs I cut from round stock and honed to fit the holes on the tank. it looks like absolute shit but gets the job done. Plus it only cost $8 🙂

looks like its gonna be tough taking it off…imma have to find someone with a vice.

I’d be afraid to dent the tank. The valve is much stronger. The way we did it was we used a allen wrench that just barely fit, but it left a mark on the valve body.

I wrapped my tank and put in it a vice and used a large cresent wrench to install my selph valve. Much easier than getting out and install a standard valve. Used a spanner wrench on my standard valve wasnt nearly as easy as a cresent wrench…

Hate to ask stupid questions but you did drain out all the air right? If yes, you can use leather as a cushion and put the valve in a vice and spin the tank off.
