Q:

Help with prod leak

I’ve taken my marauder pistol apart quite a few times lately but now I can’t get it to hold pressure. It keeps leaking around the gauge area. I had some orings from a kit I got from Harbor Freight but now I’ve ran out. I found some from lowes for faucets and that’s what I have been trying to use. I’m planning on ordering some quality orings online when I have some extra cash so I don’t waste it on shipping.

Is it the faucet orings that is causing the leak? If so why just the gauge port or gauge itself? I can hear a slight and constant hiss when I put my ear by the gauge. As far as I can tell, the valve and fitting is fine. Is there a way I can determine whether the leak is from the gauge thread or the gauge port orings? Thanks

Best thing since duct tape!!!

Tells you something about the standards of wherever they bought that Mrod part…..Hmmmmmmm

Hoot

Fixed it! 6 wraps of teflon tape. I kept adding until it stopped hissing.

Teflon tape, wrap two to three times really tight and screw back in slowly and carefully. This has resolved just about every non-O ring leaking problem I’ve encountered.

Good luck.

If this doesn’t resolve the problem, PM me and I’ll give you my address. You can send me your pistol. You’ll never get it back, but I guarantee it will never bother you with a leak again.

After reading this I went and got my Prod to see if it had leaked I left it on 2000 and it’s still there,, whew was worried,, I’m fine for now, thanks for the infor.

The gauges leak a lot on new ones. I just bought a new PRod with a 1000 psi leak overnight and they said it was more than likely the gauge but I sent it to Crosman anyway. The gauge normally has to be replaced. If it is the threads use some teflon tape on them and see if it still leaks.
