Help with top hat valve
I have a new to me Talon SS with .22 with a 12″ barrel. I can’t seemd to get the dng thing tuned to be consistant.
So I decide to adjust the top hat and promptly rounded one of the set screws. I did get the blasted thing off, but I feel I have damaged the threads of the valve stem.
All I want this Talon be is a consistant, pick it up (not often, maybe once a month) and shoot it. I want 20-25FPE and it to be accurate out to 30-40 yards with say 1-2″ MAX accuracy
IS THAT TOO much to ask of a .22 Talon SS with a 12″ barrel?
Here are my questions:
1) Should this be replaced? Opinions?
2) Can I just buy the valve stem and top hat or do I have to buy the whole valve?
3) is there a better way to make this right? i.e.: high flow valve, better valve?
PS: I don’t want to sink a lot of $$ into this gun…

One of the set screws in the top hat is frozen and rounded. I can only tighten one and whne I do the top hat tilts and is NOT flat with the top of the valve.
And yes I have a Chrony. It was shotting JSB heavies at about 730..
But I was getting dud shots ocassionally!!! And I just cleaned it.. arrgghh

Yes your SS should be able to reach 20-25 ft lbs easily and shoot .5 inch groups with ease on a calm day at 30-40yards. As long as the valve stem is not crushed any, I think it looks alright and can still be used. If you put Hi-flo vlave on it you will have alot of trouble getting it to shoot that low.
